UNDER 17 FOOTBALL
Our under 17 footballers were in County Div 3 Final action on Saturday morning when we travelled to Mick Neville Park in Rathkeale to take on Ballybrown.
The team under the Daly family guidance in Con and Kieran have been having an excellent year, enjoying their football.
As is customary at this stage, the team got off to a slow start and trailed early on. By the first water break Ballybrown had a 4 point lead 0-5 to 0-1.
We slowly started to grow into the game but by the halftime whistle, we trailed on a 0-7 to 0-3 scoreline.
In the 3rd quarter, we played our best football with support play and determination to the fore.
Big Eoghan in the middle of the field raised our green flag and by the 2nd water break, we were all square on a 1-5 to 0-8 scoreline.
The final ten minutes was nip and tuck with both sides squandering chances late on.
It was Ballybrown who found the coveted late score when their center back went on a surging run to rifle the ball past Sam Murray.
Try as we might we could not bridge the gap and in the end, it was a victory for Ballybrown on a 1-10 to 11-06 scoreline.
A brilliant year of very entertaining football was displayed by the lads and here is hoping these lads continue to blossom and turn into fine senior footballers for Na Piarsaigh.
The team was: Sam Murray, Cormac Benson, Gerard O Tiarnaigh, Eoghan Halvey, Adam Jordan, John O Tiarnaigh, Matthew McGann, Eoghan Vukovic, Sam Connolly, Michael Graham, Wayne Kearns, Josh Sheehan, Sam Jordan, Jim Beary, Bradley Moran. Subs: Andrew Stack, James Linnane, James Finn, Shane Downey, Gerard Maher.
