Athea GAA Club Notes:
U12 Girls:
Huge well done to our U12s who played Fr Casey’s last Tuesday. Although small in number they make up for it in heart and determination. Keep up the good work girls.
U13 Plate Winner:
Huge well done to Clodagh Mahoney, Loren Healy and Shauna Collins who won the U13 B plate at the weekend with a great win over Ahane. Well done girls we are so proud of ye’re achievements.
U14 Girls:
Our U14s were out in their first championship game against St Senans last Wednesday night. Although being beaten well at half time, the girls rallied in the second to make a huge comeback. They were denied in the finish by a great penalty save and some excellent defending from the St Senans team.
U16 Girls Challenge:
As our U16s prepare for their next championship match they played Tarbert in a great game last Thursday night.
Thanks to Tarbert for the great game.
U18 Mens:
Shannon Gaels/Athea 2-11 Askeaton/Ballysteen/Kilcornan 3-12
This was a cracking game played before a good sized crowd in Glin on Wednesday evening last. We had a strong panel on the night and they put in a huge effort in a very competitive match. Too many missed chances with 14 wides probably cost us a chance of victory. We play Newcastle West in our next game on Wednesday July 31 at 7.15 in Newcastle West. Team Tomás Ahern, Luke Buckley, Tadhg Ahern, Sean Twomey, Jamie Collins, James Hunt, Rory Cleary, Sean McKenry, Evan Curry, Fionn McNamara, Kaelon Lonergan, Daire Mullane, Charlie McDonagh, Jack Sexton, Donach Daly, subs Aiden Healy, Tomás Ahern, Conor Fitzgerald, Jack Adams, Fergal Leahy, Fionn Histon, Harry Fitzgerald, Adam Bennett, Seamus Dillane.
