SOUTH LIBERTIES CLUB NOTES
UNDERAGE ACADEMY
Our Underage Academy for this term concluded last Friday evening until the next session begins in the Autumn. There were huge turnouts at all age groups again despite the drizzle so massive appreciation to the committee for organising. The Academy shop kindly gave out free refreshments to all and sundry.
Thanks to all parents for your dedication and to all volunteers and coaches.
Many thanks also to the young girls that went around giving out the information leaflets for our Pitch Sanding Project for 2021. If any underage parent wants to purchase their own 50sq metre for €50 please visit our website
The academy will return again when the season ends and maybe if restrictions allow some trips may be organised over the Summer period.
Garda Vetting
Our Child Officer is asking for all coaches to check that their Garda Vetting is up to date. New rules now state that vetting must be updated every 3 years.

Condolences
The Club extend their deepest condolences to Veronica Garry, Cronan, Clara, David, and Brian on the death of Veronicas Mother Ann Butler.
Ann was a retired publican from Butler’s pub in Bruff, which had a huge history with South Liberties players down through the years – Often togging out in the pub before games and celebrating within after. Ann was a huge Liberties supporter.

Volunteers Needed
South Liberties are looking for volunteers who are willing to offer a couple of hours a week to help maintain the building and grounds. The club does not employ anybody to carry out maintenance and all work done is voluntary. Unfortunately, this presently falls to a small few people and not everything that we would like done gets completed. The local community employment scheme has not been in operation for a while due to the Pandemic, and they can only offer a limited amount of time on their return to work.
If you are available to do a bit of painting, weeding, grass cutting, minor repairs or general maintenance we would welcome the support. The plan is that we will meet every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm and anybody who is available during this time or part of it, can come along and lend a hand. Your reward will be a cup of tea or coffee, a biscuit, and a chat. The first night will be on the 27th of May and will continue weekly thereafter.
Please contact Michael Fitzpatrick or Maurice Barrett if you want more information, or just turn up on the night. People with no present or previous involvement with the club are most welcome. We are also looking for volunteers with a bit of gardening experience who may be interested in helping us enhance the appearance of the grounds and particularly the areas around the clubhouse.
