Patrickswell GAA Club Notes:
All-Ireland Hurling Final:
Best wishes to Cian, Aaron and Diarmaid with Limerick in the All-Ireland final against Kilkenny. The club are fully behind you.
Under 19 Hurlers:
Patrickswell lost their opening match of the U-19 Championship away to Askeaton. The ‘Well started brightly and built a 1-4 to 0-4 lead within ten minutes (Dayle McDonagh goal, Billy Earls 0-3, Liam Fitzgerald). The hosts then dominated for a short spell to establish a 1-10 to 1-7 lead by the 20th minute. Patrickswell were now under pressure and trailed further by 2-13 to 1-9 at the break.
Dayle McDonagh scored his second goal at the start of the half. The teams were cancelling each other out, so Askeaton remained 2-17 to 2-10 ahead by the 38th minute. Any hopes of a recovery were dashed by five consecutive points in five minutes. The teams entered the final quarter at 2-22 to 2-10. The rate of scoring ebbed over the next ten minutes as Askeaton led by 2-25 to 2-13. Unfortunately for Patrickswell, the home team notched two goals and a point in the closing stages to cement a 4-26 to 2-13 win.
