PATRICKSWELL GAA CLUB NOTES

SENIOR HURLERS: Patrickswell played out a tough draw against Kilmallock in the All County Hurling League. Jack Kelleher opened the scoring with an early point but the Balbec equalised shortly after. Chances were scarce, however Kevin O’Brien and Jack Kelleher put the ‘Well ahead by 0-3 to 0-1 after 15 minutes. Kilmallock equalised with two consecutive points, before Kelleher added another brace to push Patrickswell ahead by 0-6 to 0-4. The final act of the first half was a Kilmallock point to close within a single score.

At the start of the second half, Kilmallock gained the upper hand and went ahead for the first time at 0-7 to 0-6. Jack Kelleher equalised, yet the hosts notched three straight points to lead by 0-10 to 0-7. Ciaran Carey’s men increased their tempo and levelled with points from Jack Kelleher, Calvin Carroll and Darragh Ahern. The remainder of the match was keenly contested. Jack Kelleher and Mark Carmody scored points that were sandwiched between Kilmallock points. With five minutes left, the scoreline was 0-12 apiece. Jamie Dillon nudged Patrickswell ahead, but Kilmallock equalised. Jason Gillane almost won the match, but our opponents salvaged a 0-14 to 0-14 draw.

JUNIOR A HURLERS: The Junior A hurlers are scheduled to open their City Championship on Wednesday June 5 at 7pm in Clarina against Mungret.

UNDER 14 HURLERS: The U-14 hurlers lost by a solitary point to St Kieran’s on a scoreline of 1-12 to 3-7. The performance was impressive, but the boys fell just short.

INTERCOUNTY HURLERS: Congratulations to the Limerick hurlers for their comprehensive win over Waterford in the All-Ireland Hurling Championship.

CLUB LOTTO: Lotto results for the week ending Monday May 27 were as follows. The Numbers Drawn were 6, 12, 24 and 30. The Bonus was 2. There was no jackpot winner. The Lucky Dip Winners were Paul O’Connor €100, Rebecca McMahon €50, Alan Griffin €20, Megan Kiely €20, Noreen Meade €20, Mary Aldridge €20 and Susie Adams €20. The next draw on Tuesday June 4 will be held in De Bucket. The jackpot is €12,400!
