Our second Junior football team met with Croom again in the Intermediate league game in the baking sunshine on Tuesday 3 June 2021. This was a tighter game as Mungret St. Pauls put it up to Croom but were unfortunate to be hit with a second goal that divided the sides by the final whistle.
U-15 FOOTBALL
On a sunny evening Monday 28 June 2021 we had our two U-15 footballers out the Division 1 team were playing Cappagh Rathkeale in Rahtkeale where they met with a tough team. Mungret St. Pauls got a goal and six points pasted their defence but it was Cappagh Rathkeale that took the win.
There was a similar story with the division 3 team as they played Monaleen in Monaleen. Our players put in a huge amount of work but again the hosts were the winners.
LIMERICK CAMOGIE
The Girls of Mungret St. Pauls Camogie are representing the club at County level. The U14s panel includes J Casey, S Horgan, G Buckley & M Tobin and were in action last weekend in Cork.

The very best of luck to each and every one of you and of course the entire panel – the future is bright for both Mungret St Pauls & Limerick Camogie!
U-17 FOOTBALL

The sun was shining brightly on Wednesday 30 June 2021 in Mungret when our U-17 footballers took to the pitch for their first game of the year against Fr. Casey’s. This was a great game from both sides with Mungret St. Pauls winning by 6 points by the full time whistle.

On Wednesday 30 June 2021 in the warm sun our Junior Footballers had a change of venue to the Crescent College Comprehensive pitches which Mungret St. Pauls were delighted to be able to get the use of when they played Galbally. INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALL
Mungret St. Pauls 2-12 Na Piarsaigh 1-13
Wednesday 30 June 2021 our Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Intermediate footballers travelled to Caherdavin to play a lively match against Na Piarsaigh where our players had no let up in intensity as they took an early lead going up 2-3 to 0-2. Na Piarsaigh clawed their way back as game went on. In last quarter the hosts had a two point lead but Mungret St. Pauls pegged back 4 unanswered points to win by 2.
JUNIOR A HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 3-13 Old Christians 0-18
The weather was not kind on Saturday 3 July 2021 when our Junior Hurlers met in Rathbane to play Old Christians in the last of the league group games. Mungret St. Pauls were top of the table going into this game with Old Christians near the bottom our players made tough work on getting the win. The heavy rain fall in the first half made the sliotar hard to catch and the ground slippy.
This was a closely contested game for the most part with both sides taking at lead throughout. Mungret St. Pauls first goal came in the first 5 minutes by a penalty but it only took Old Christians the next five to level the game. An opportunity arose again for Mungret St. Pauls as the ball hit the back of the net just on the water break. Back from the break and Old Christians took charge going one point up on us. There was one more exchange of points before the half time whistle, Mungret St. Pauls behind by one point.
Back from the break Old Christians started to take a lead again going 3 points up, Mungret St. Pauls upped their game a bit trailing by one point for the next 10 minutes until the ball struck the back of the net for the third time giving them the lead. The game levelled five more times to the final six minutes when Mungret St. Pauls pointed the last four balls to win the game.
PREMIER INTERMEDIATE HURLING
Mungret St. Pauls 0-17 Kildimo Pallaskenry 0-13
There had been a lot of rain fall during the day on Sunday 4 July 2021 but both sides were lucky there was only a drizzle during the game when the Limerick Motor Centre sponsored Premier Intermediate hurlers opened the gates to Kildimo Pallaskenry in the Senior Hurling League match. It was Kildimo Pallaskenry that had the early start but Mungret St. Pauls kept biting at their heels. Seven times both sides were on equal score but a strong finish for Mungret St. Pauls sealed the win.
Before we knew it Kildimo Pallaskenry had 2 frees up before Mungret St. Pauls could reply, it did not take Mungret St. Pauls long to settle into the game and take the lead for the first time. After the water break Kildimo Pallaskenry levelled the game to six points each but in a typical cat and mouse game Mungret St. Pauls were two points up with Kildimo Pallaskenry catching up each time. The half time score saw both sides level again on nine points each.
The second half started much the same again with Kildimo Pallaskenry again taking an early lead with Mungret St. Pauls scrambling back to regain control of the score board by the water break Mungret St. Pauls had just the one point lead, 0-13 to 0-12. It took a good six minutes before Kildimo Pallaskenry managed what was to be their final score as Mungret St. Pauls shifted up a gear and steered the game home notching up the last 4 points. There was a tussle near the Kildimo Pallaskenry goal mouth but unfortunately there was no luck in getting the ball over the line.
U-6 FOOTBALL
The Under 6s continue their hurling coaching at 6pm on Mondays and football coaching at 11.15am on Saturdays, still fielding between 30 and 40 players even though it’s staycation season. Meanwhile, the U7’s hosted Monaleen for a football blitz on Saturday with photos attached below. Well done to all 6 teams of 6 who played superbly. They host Ballybrown at home next week in hurling.
Of special note are the siblings present on the pitches for the teams. Playing together we had 2 sibling players from the Jones, the Fitzgeralds, the Scallys, the Whites and Clann Uí Annaidh

Both teams put in a great effort and gained some good experience by playing on a senior pitch. Our older team closed the game with a three point win while our younger team took a loss.
