FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Glenroe GAA Development Project
New AstroTurf for Glenroe GAA
We thank everyone who has donated so far to our amazing project of the astroturf field that is now up and running. We have received an amazing €143,000 from Sports Capital and a further €70,000 from Tomar Trust to get our Project. We ask people who haven’t yet contributed if you can support this great project. We recently held a family fun day which showcased what a brilliant facility we have, there will be a number more events that will be organised in 2022/2023 to ensure we reach our target. We are asking you to consider sponsoring a square of AstroTurf at a cost of €250. This square of AstroTurf can be sponsored by an individual or a family. We also ask that if you do wish to support our campaign that you do so through the Tax Relief Scheme. All what this will imply for you is the filling out of a form but the financial gains for our development project will be huge. Should you require any further information or have any questions and/or queries do not hesitate to contact a member of our Fundraising Committee (contact details attached). Forms for Tax Relief Scheme available from the club or any member of the fundraising committee. You can also donate online through Swoofee on the Glenroe Social Media Pages.
Glenroe Premier Intermediates season comes to an end at the hands of Dromin/Athlacca
Glenroe knew they had to win to go through in a crunch tie against Dromin/Athlacca in Kilfinane last Saturday. The game started slow enough with only 4 scores inside the first 15 minutes and Glenroe only registering one of them with a Mark O’ Connell score Dromin/ Athlacca were leading 0-3 to 0-1. Glenroe started to get more into the game with scores from Eoin Walsh and Mark O’ Connell putting over a free and a few from play from Eoin left it tight coming up to the half time whistle, until Dromin/Athlacca scored a goal at a key time which made life difficult for Glenroe. The scores at half time Glenroe 0-6 Dromin/Athlacca 1-6. Glenroe tried to put pressure on Dromin/Athlacca when they came out in the second half with frees from Eoin Walsh and Mark O’Connell getting the scores down to a 2 point game 15 mins into the second half. However another killer blow for Glenroe when a stunning goal from Dromin/Athlacca beat David McCarthy in goals which left too big a mountain to climb for Glenroe. Despite their best efforts Glenroe could not reduce the lead and it spelled the end for Glenroe Premier Intermediate’s team season. A disappointing way to finish a season that started so promisingly, however thanks to the management team and players for their dedication throughout the year.
Team: David McCarthy, Eoin Gallahue, Patrick McSweeney, Jimmy Barry Murphy, Sean Clancy, Stephen Walsh, Shaun Moloney, Ciaran Kelly, Shane O’Donoghue, Liam Dennehy, Mark O’Connell (0-4, 3 from frees), Eoin O’Mahony, Eoin Walsh (0-7, 5 from frees), Maurice O’Brien, Brian O’Connell (0-2)
