DROMCOLLOGHER/BROADFORD

JUNIOR A’S WIN TO ADVANCE TO COUNTY SEMI-FINAL!!!
Result:
County Junior A Hurling Championship Quarter Final
Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-23
Castletown/ Ballyagran 2-12
A strong start to the second half paved our way towards the Semi-Final of the Junior A Hurling Championship with an excellent win over Castletown/ Ballyagran in good conditions in Feenagh on Saturday afternoon.
Jack Pierce opened the scoring for us after a bright start. This was added to by centre back Sean O’Sullivan and Keith Lacey to add to our lead. Castletown then went ahead before Derry McCarthy’s long range frees began to make an impact adding to our total. We pushed on with five scores in a row with Derry, Michael Brosnan and Sean returning a Castletown puck-out back to where it came from, pushing us into a healthy lead. The end of the half was tight with Castletown edging back to making it two points lead at half-time. To leave the score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-12 to Castletown/ Ballyagran 0-10.
Whatever was said in the dressing room at half time worked as Dromcollogher/Broadford broke the game open with a savage start to the half, a lot of it built on the winning of turnovers all over the field creating a chance to add 6 unanswered points. Scores from Keith, Derry and Kevin Noonan who had a massive game at half forward helped us move clear. Castletown battled back with two scores before another burst of four points pushed us ten points clear with Kevin and especially Keith adding some great scores to our total. Like any good side, Castletown/ Ballyagran never quit and bounced back with two goals to put us back under pressure for the final minutes. Fortunately, some excellent defence and attitude from the team held them off and forced a late free for Keith to convert and push us over the line for an excellent victory. To leave the score at full-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 0-23 to Castletown/ Ballyagran 2-12
An open draw with no repeat pairings will be the order of the day so our semi-final should be confirmed once the quarters are completed on Tuesday night. Thanks to every supporter who turned up on the day to create a great support for the team before, during and after.
