West Intermediate League
Fr. Caseys 1-10 Glin 1-05
Fr. Caseys Junior A Footballers concluded their league campaign with an impressive 1-10 to 1-05 victory away to Glin last Tuesday. With two wins from four games played, Fr. Caseys finish second in their group behind a very strong Athea side. Seamus McNamara will be very pleased with the progress made by this youthful team and they will now begin preparations for championship in the coming month with ties against Newcastle West and Hospital/Herbertstown awaiting.
No dates for the county championships have yet been set but we expect these to commence in early August. In the meantime our Senior Footballers who topped their West League group have an opportunity to claim some early silverware when they face neighbours Newcastle West in the West League Final on Thursday evening in Athea. As with Fr. Caseys it was a perfect league campaign also for Newcastle West with four wins from four played. This will be a great test for the Abbeyfeale men and give a good indication on progress made ahead of the county championship. The throw in time is 7.30pm and we would love to see you in support for this exciting encounter.
Good Luck Limerick
Best of luck to the Limerick Senior Hurlers who take on Tipperary this Sunday in the Munster Championship Final. After a commanding victory over Cork in the semi-final, Limerick will be looking to continue winning ways but will face a big challenge against a talented Tipperary side. After years of heartache, John Kiely and his team have spoilt us over the past three years and hopefully next Sunday in Páirc Uí Chaoimh there is another big performance awaiting. Throw in time is 4.15pm
Despite a brave display last Saturday in the Gaelic Grounds the Limerick Senior Footballers exited the All-Ireland Championship with a 1-16 to 0-11 defeat to Cork at the Munster Semi-Final stage. After a very impressive league campaign and opening championship win over Waterford, the journey unfortunately now ends for 2021. Well done to Adrian Enright and Cormac Roche who proudly represented our club throughout the year. There was also no joy for the Limerick U20 Footballers last Thursday evening when they suffered a three point defeat away to Tipperary in the Quarter Final of the Munster Championship. Fr. Caseys were very fortunate to have three players on the starting team in Dylan Quirke, Sean Kilbridge and Eliah Riordan. With no back door in this competition this defeat ends their championship run.
