ST. PATRICK’S GAA CLUB NOTES
City/East Minor Hurling Championship:
Southside Gaels 3 11 (20)
Monaleen 1 13 (16)
A great start to the Minor Championship with a win in Monaleen on Saturday evening. There are Seven games in the group stages of this competition so plenty of hurling for this team over the summer.
Junior Football:
Losing county league finalists in 2018 the Junior team travelled to Mungret for their first round league game of 2019, a poor first half was to be the catalyst for defeat in the end. A very encouraging second thirty was to follow and with a numbers of players to be welcomed back into the fold, we play Claughaun in round two next Thursday night.Well done to manager Michael Geary for his hard work with this team.
U14 & U16 Football:
U14 V Newcastlewest
The under 14s were very unlucky to eventually lose out against the West Limerick side their second round fixture.
Dominating the first half with Stephen O Neill and Alex Collopy first to every ball, our half backs Matthew Hickey, James Murphy and Liam Chambers were on top and in attack Micheal Ryan,Ronan Kidney and Arron Joyce gaining plenty of possession with Jamie Quigley,Darragh Quinn and Christopher Hickey a constant threat in the inside line. We had numerous goal chances in the first half with the Newcastlewest keeper making some fine saves and St Patrick’s trailed by a goal at half time despite alot of possession. Our goals coming from Blake Campbell and Jake Kavanagh.
In the second half our missed opportunities were punished with Newcastlewest finishing theirs to run out winners in a game our lads can be extremely proud of their efforts.
U16 Football
St Patrick’s 2 6 Ballylanders 3 13
Much like our U14s the U16s can be proud of a very good performance against a strong Ballylanders side. Again having alot of scoring opportunities that on another night would have been scored there was a lot of positives to be taken from the game.

U12 Hurling
Our U12s had a super game of hurling with Pallasgreen on Thursday night. A closely fought game throughout, well done to both teams.
U14 Girls Football
The U14 girls were in action in Rhebogue on Thursday. They came up against a very strong Knockainey team, who went away with the win. However, the girls can certainly take pride in their team performance.
