St. Kieran’s GAA Club Notes:

AGM:
St. Kieran’s GAA AGM takes place on Friday January 12 in Ardagh Hall at 8pm. We would encourage all club members as well as those of you interested in getting involved in the running of the club at some capacity to attend on the evening.
Charity Road Hurling 2023
We would like to thank all of those who supported our annual charity road hurling event which took place last Friday December 29. Once again there was an excellent crowd in attendance for the event which has become one of the most eagerly anticipated events on our GAA calendar. It was great to see so many participants of all age groups in attendance on the day and generously supporting our two excellent charities of Milford Care Centre and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association. Our GoFundMe page will remain open until this Sunday January 14 for those of you who would like to support our two charities. Many thanks to you all for our continued support, your generosity is greatly appreciated.

We have a star-studded line up on the night including former All Ireland Winning captains from Clare, Tipperary and Cork in Anthony Daly, Brendan Maher and Mark Landers joining two time All Ireland winner Tom Condon from Knockaderry, former Limerick All Ireland winner and former Limerick manager Richie Bennis and former Galway camogie star Aislinn Connolly among our special guests. Our special MC on the night will be former Limerick player and Manager TJ Ryan of Garryspillane. Tickets are now available to purchase for €25. Our preview night promises to be a fantastic nights entertainment and we would encourage you all to come along on the night. All funds raised on the night will be going towards our current new pitch development in Ardagh.

Limerick Senior Football:
Well done to John Hayes who lined out at full forward for the Limerick Senior Footballers against the All-Ireland Runners Up Kerry on Saturday afternoon in round 1 of the McGrath Cup. Fielding a very inexperienced side against a Kerry side consisting of nine players who played in last seasons All Ireland final against Dublin the away side came away with a comprehensive victory and booked their place in the McGrath Cup decider. Limerick are out once again this weekend when they make the journey to Tipperary to take on the home side which will serve as excellent preparation in advance of the upcoming national league division 3 campaign. In their opening round game Limerick welcome Antrim to the newly redeveloped Mick Neville Park on Sunday January 29.

Ireland Lights Up Walk:
The Ireland Lights Up Walk in partnership with Operation Transformation commences this evening.
Those who wish to participate are asked to meet at Ardagh church carpark to sign in. The walk will begin at 7pm sharp! We will once again follow the same route as last year. Walking along the from the Church to Dowlings and back is 6.4km but feel free to do what you want and turn when you want.
All are welcome, bring the children, bring the dog, come on your own – there is always someone to walk with and chat to.
See you all this evening and we would ask all participants to please bring a light and wear a hi-visibility jacket.

Our Operation Transformation walk will start on Wednesday January 10th. What better way to kick start the year than with a challenge to boost our health & well being and also support St Kierans…so let’s get ready for every step counts 2024!!!
