ST. KIERAN’S GAA CLUB NOTES
Comortás Peil Paidí ó’ Sé 2022
The 2022 season gets underway this Saturday afternoon when our senior footballers make the long journey to west Kerry to participate in the Comortas Peil Paidí O’ Sé. Six teams have been invited to participate in the event which promises to be a wonderful weekend of football and entertainment. We have been drawn in group 1 alongside Carbery Rangers from Roscarbery, Cork and Mayo’s Castlebar Mitchells. We get our campaign underway at 12.15 in Gallarus when we play Carbery Rangers followed by Castlebar Mitchells at 1.30. Both games are 20 minutes a half with rolling substitutes which will allow the management team to rest and rotate players which will be vital when playing two consecutive games. In group two fellow Limerick side Galbally have been paired with Listry from Kerry and recently crowned Connacht Senior club champions Padraig Pearses from Roscommon. We are guaranteed at least two games with the winner of each group meeting in the final later in the afternoon.
ST KIERANS GAA CLUB WELCOMES CAMOGIE ARM:
Following a meeting of the organising group of hurling sisters for fun (which was a great success in the fall of last year), we’ve decided to go ahead and organise a camogie arm of St Kieran’s GAA club. This is with a view to fielding u6, u8, u10, u12 and u14 teams in 2022. We feel there will be sufficient interest field teams in each of these age groups from our catchment area and surrounding parishes. We sincerely hope this initiative goes well and we’re confident it will. For many years girls from our club who wished to play camogie had to join neighbouring clubs. Many of these girls went on to play at county level and some still are playing at county level. This new initiative facilitates girls to play camogie with their new local club, at least up to and including u14 level at the moment. The most important thing is that girls enjoy playing the game and the rest will follow. The following will be the camogie officers for 2022;
Chairperson; Kieran Madigan.
Vice Chairperson and coaching officer; Padraig kiely.
Secretary; Sharon Sheahan
Asst secretary; Deirdre Ambrose.
PRO; Emma Galvin.
This initiative will be funded through membership/registrations and done through the senior club. We will support this organising group in every way possible. Best of luck to all involved.

Intercounty Activity:
Limerick senior footballers’ promotion hopes experienced a setback on Sunday afternoon on the 3G pitch at the University of Limerick North Campus when they suffered a two point loss at the hands of Louth. Limerick now travel to Wicklow this weekend to face off against the home side. Wicklow currently sit bottom of Division 3 with a solitary point to their name while Limerick will undoubtedly be looking to get their promotion push back on track with a win. Darragh Treacy was our only representative involved at the weekend, lining out at midfield. Elsewhere the Limerick u20’s got their O’ Connor cup campaign, which is serving as a preseason competition in advance of the Munster Championship underway on Saturday evening when they welcomed Clare to the University of Limerick. The Bannermen who have been very strong at underage level over the past number of years came away with a three-point victory on the night. We were represented by Sean Ryan who started corner back for the home side.
