Semi-final places up for grabs in Limerick senior football championship:

THE quarter-finals of the Limerick senior football championship take place this Saturday and Sunday.

FR Casey’s take on Na Piarsaigh on Saturday in the first of this weekend’s quarter-finals in Sean Fin n Park, Rathkeale at 4pm.

Casey’s have enjoyed a positive campaign in 2024 where the Abbeyfeale club won the league title and won four out of their five group games in the SFC.

Na Piarsaigh have shown adversity during this year’s SFC.

The Caherdavin side lost their first two group games against Mungret St Paul’s and Ballylanders. Michael Lynch’s side then recorded back-to-back victories over St Kieran’s and Monaleen.

Na Piarsaigh secured their place into the knockout stages with a hard fought draw against Adare.

Daniel Daly and Adrian Enright have stood our for FR Casey’s during group two of the SFC.

Dylan Cronin and Evan Egan have been a vital to Na Piarsaigh in reaching the last six of the Championship.

FR Casey’s look like strong contenders to reach the last four but Na Piarsaigh are steadily building momentum.

The second SFC quarter-finals takes place in Kilmallock at 1pm on Sunday between Galtee Gaels and Adare.

Harry Glesson will be delighted to have his heavy hitters back on the pitch.Hugh and Robbie Bourke have both returned for Adare and both players return will give Adare a massive boost ahead of this weekend’s clash.

Last year’s county finalists haven’t set the world alight during this year’s SFC.Adare will look to ramp things up a level this weekend.

Galtee Gaels won their opening three games against Oola, Ballysteen and Kildimo Pallaskenry.

The Gaels suffered defeats to Newcastle West and FR Casey’s in their final two group games.Tommie and Bob Childs will be crucial for Galtee Gaels to pull of an upset to advance into the last four.

FR Casey’s and Adare look like strong favourities to join Mungret St Paul’s and Newcastle West in the semi-finals of the SFC.

The semi-finals will take place on the weekend of October 19 and 20.

On Sunday at 4pm, Ballylanders and Ballysteen face off in the relegation final in Ballyagran.

Ballylanders have recorded one win in this year’s SFC.Ballysteen are yet to register a win during group two of the SFC.

The loser of this clash will be relegated to Intermediate football for the 2025 season.

Danny Neville has impressed for Ballysteen, while Ballylanders’ Jimmy Barry Murphy has popped up with crucial scores.

Meanwhile, both Intermediate football championship quarter-finals take place on Friday and Saturday. Galbally and Gerald Griffins meet in Ballygaran at 1:30pm on Saturday afternoon in the first of this weekend’s IFC quarter-finals. Newcastle West take on Claughaun in Askeaton at 4pm on Saturday in the other IFC quarter-final. Glin and Castlemahon face off in the IFC relegation final in Mountcollins on Friday evening at 8pm.
