RATHKEALE GAA CLUB NOTES

Feile Stars

Well done to our U14 Footballers of Cappagh\Rathkeale, who represented Limerick in the Feile Peile na nOg, which was held in Kilmovee, County Mayo over last weekend. They set off from Rathkeale House Hotel last Friday morning in fine form, with two Group games to play that evening. They got off to a flying start overcoming Tuam B with ease. Their second encounter was against Boston and once again they came through that battle with 5 points to spare. After a good rest, the boys were out again for Round 3 on Saturday morning, however lost out narrowly to the hosts, Kilmovee Shamrocks by a solitary point after conceding a late goal. The slip up made no real difference as Cappagh\Rathkeale would still top the Group and play Longford’s Carrick Sarsfields in the Quarter Final. Unfortunately for us, the Longford Champions proved too strong and ran out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 2-06 to 0-02. Overall, it was a fantastic achievement for our lads to come out of Limerick and to top the Group in what was a fantastic Feile run. Magnificent credit must go to the players, management team, parents, organisers and of course our generous sponsors. Well done to all involved.

Junior A Hurlers

Our poor start to the Junior A Hurling Championship continued unfortunately, with a heavy defeat to the hands of Templeglantine in Newcastlewest last Saturday evening. The final score on the night was 6-14 to 2-14. That result anchors us to second from bottom of the table with two defeats, hopefully we can bounce back with the three remaining games.
