MUNSTER HURLING CHAMPIONS

Huge congratulations to Tom Condon and the Limerick team and management on being crowed Munster Hurling Champions after our emphatic victory over Tipperary in the Gaelic Grounds last Sunday. This win ensure a path straight to All Ireland Hurling Semi Final on the 27th or 28th July in Croke Park. Congratulation to the minor team who were also victorious on the day.

HARD LUCK

Hard luck to all who were involved in the Celtic Challenge Division 4 Corn Jerome O’Leary Final last Saturday in Tullamore. Final Score: Roscommon 1-14, Limerick Sarsfields 2-8 (FT). The Knockaderry players involved were Cormac Lyons, Kieran Storin, Darragh Lyons, Brian Mortell and Ollie Dowling (Coach).

AHALIN NS END OF YEAR REPORT

It was another enjoyable and successful year on the sports field in Ahalin. Operating in Division 1 in all four codes, the competition was always going to be tough and the girls and boys acquitted themselves very well. The camogie players brought the County Mini-7’s trophy back to the school beating Knocklong, Lisnagry and Milford in the finals series. They also won the West school’s trophy beating Adare Girls in a thrilling final, only to narrowly lose out to Kilmallock in the County Semi-Final. The girls football team lost by the narrowest of margins to the eventual winners Mahoonagh in the girls football semi-final.

The boys were runners-up in the West Final of the Mini-7’s and reached the semi-finals of the school’s football and hurling competitions. The hurlers beat the Courtenay and Adare Boys on the way to the semi-final but went down to a very strong Shountrade team in the semi-final. In the football, the boys had a great win away to Abbeyfeale to reach the semis, where they were, perhaps, unlucky to lose to the eventual winners, the Courtenay Boys, after a replay.

Bethan Storin and Órnagh Barrett won the Larkin Shield with the West Limerick Girls Football side, while they, with Ruby Molloy, also played with the Eithne Neville West Schools camógie side. Despite only being in 5th class, Ronan O’Connor won a Sarsfield Cup medal with the West Limerick Boys football team.

Órnagh had the honour of representing the school in the Primary Game during the Limerick Cork football match, while Bethan Storin will also be representing the school at half-time during the first All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Final later this month. Well done to all the boys and girls who pulled on a school jersey this year. Thanks also to the teachers and club coaches who helped out and especially to Tommy Hannon who coached all the classes during school this year.
