RATHKEALE

Junior A Hurling
Our Junior A Hurlers bowed out of this year’s season with two further defeats in Round 4 and Round 5 of the Woodlands House Hotel County Junior A Championship. After an improved performance against Kilteely Dromkeen, Rathkeale recorded a 6 points defeat, losing out on a scoreline of 0-22 to 0-14. That unfortunately finished any hopes of making the knockouts ahead of their final group stage game against Patrickswell last Saturday afternoon. Patrickswell ran out emphatic victors to make it 5 wins from 5 games, on a scoreline of 5-18 to 0-17. It wasn’t Rathkeale’s year, no doubt both the players and management will take learnings to help us drive on for 2023. Thanks to all for their effort and commitment, hopefully we have better fortunes next year.
Intermediate Footballers
Our intermediate footballers were due to play Fr Caseys this weekend in the final round of the group stages, however we have received a walkover in the last 48 hours. That means that we now sit in 3rd position on 6 points along with Mungret St Pauls, Gerald Griffins and Dromcollogher Broadford who all reside on 6 points also. With all of the aforementioned teams yet to play their final round of games, it means that we would need results elsewhere to go in our favour if we are to advance into the knock out stages. Stranger things have happened and where there is hope there is a chance!
Bord na nOg – U11 Footballers
Well done to the U11 footballers of Cappagh\Rathkeale, who enjoyed another fine performance last week against St Kieran’s in the Bog Garden. This was another great performance from the lads, displaying fantastic skills and accurate scoring on the night. Well done to all the players and management involved.
Recent Bereavement – Mary Langan – RIP
Deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mary Langan, who sadly passed away very recently. Mary, beloved wife of Jimmy Langan, one of our finest supporters within the Club, will be fondly missed by her family and friends within the community. We wish Jimmy and family all the best during this difficult time. May Mary Rest in Peace.
