PALLASGREEN GAA CLUB NOTES

ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING: The AGM of the Pallasgreen GAA Club took place last in a social stance manner in the newly refurbished community centre. It could be said that in a well attended meeting, it was one of the quietest and quickest for many a year and all officers were returned unopposed. Secretary Margo Greene detailed a comprehensive report on all the club happenings during 2021 followed by a healthy balance sheet presented by treasurer Alan O’Dwyer. Chairman Diarmuid O’Dwyer thanked all for their help with the club during the especially during these turbulent times battling the pandemic. He outlined the club going forward and said there is some exciting prospects ahead to enhance the club at both juvenile and senior level but need the help and enthusiasm from everyone involved. The following are the officers elected for 2022. Chairman; Diarmuid O’Dwyer, Vice Chairmen; Jimmy McMahon, Denis Ryan, Secretary; Margo Greene, Asst Secretary; Tony Greene (Jnr), Treasurer; Alan O’Dwyer, Asst Treasurer; Michael O’Keeffe, PRO; Ger O’Connell, Irish Officer; Eilin De Grás, Registrar; Tony Greene (Jnr) Children’s Officer; Denis Tracey, Coaching Officer; Jimmy McMahon. Committee; Tom Ryan(W), Frank Roche, Jonathon Deere, Aidan Foley, Patrick Blackwell, John Gammell, Jimmy Fanning, Nora Stokes, Pakie Deere, Jimmy Hourigan, Ned Breen, Tony McMahon. Team managements will be decided at first committee meeting. Membership to be paid before 31st May 2022, Non Player €20 and players €30.
The club are holding a Monster Christmas Draw with valuable prizes including €250 voucher for the Woodlands House Adare, €150 voucher for the Pallas Bar & Bistro etc. Please contact any club member to join draw, all support is greatly appreciated.
U21 HURLING CO QUARTER FINAL: Sarsfields (Pallasgreen/Kilteely Dromkeen) qualified for the county semi final after a fine win over Knockaderry in Kilbreedy last Sunday afternoon. Played in a cold and sticky conditions the game was level 0-4 each at the first water break. The resumption saw the western side take control and led at the break 0-9 to 0-7. A point by Colm McMahon who went on to have a fine game narrowed the gap to a point, but
three points from Brian O’Grady took control of the game and Sarsfield’s led at the second water break by 0-12 to 0-11. Further points by McMahon and a wonderful struck penalty plus a superb solo effort by O’Grady put Sarsfield’s in the driving seat1-14 to 0-11. A goal by Knockaderry inserted an edge into proceedings with eight minutes left on the clock. But Sarsfield’s saw out the tussle with two further points by Colm McMahon to win by 1-17 to 1-12. CO INTERMEDIATE CAMOGIE FINAL: congratulations to Cappamore intermediate camogie team who won the the Co final yesterday in Rathkeale defeating Monaleen 0-7 to 0-5 in a replay. Well done to our local representatives on the day all part of the team, Caoimhe Butler, Sara Dillon, Aoibhe Rodahan, Ciara McNamara and Sophie Roche.
