Oola played Newcastle West in round 5 of the Senior Football Championship on a sunny Sunday evening in Kilbreedy. This was a top of the table clash with the winners booking themselves a semi-final spot. Newcastle West got off to the better start and led by 6 points midway through the first half, however a Josh Ryan goal meant the side went in at half time 1-4 to 0-8. The points coming from Richie English Conor Ryan and 3 from Josh Ryan.
Oola worked hard in the second half and found themselves ahead until Newcastle West scored a score a goal with only 10 minutes remaining in the match. Oola again fought back and didn’t panic with Ian Bourke scoring a point at the death to level the match. Oola pushed up on Newcastle West and deep into injury time Josh Ryan stepped up to score the winner sending Oola straight into the county semi-final. Well done to the players and management and to the large number of supporters who came out to support the lads.
