Results:
Senior Bons Secours West Senior Hurling League
Croagh Kilfinny 3-11
Newcastle West 0-16
Our boys played Croagh last Friday evening under heavy showers. The game didn’t go our way and at half time we were trailing by three points after Croagh managed to secure two goals in the first half. Some accurate scoring from Eoin Hurley wasn’t enough to improve things and the deficit remained at the end. Hard luck boys.

County Updates:
Electric Ireland Munster Minor Football Championship Round 3
Limerick 1-08
Waterford 0-05
A good win in Rathkeale for the Minor Footballers. Andrew Lyons back in action again. They have a two week break before their next outing.

Oneills.com Munster U20 Limerick Hurling Championship Round 5
Limerick 0-21
Cork 1-19
Ethan Hurley captained the Limerick team, and it was a cracking match in the TUS Gaelic Grounds last Friday night unfortunately it didn’t go our way. Con Hayes our other clubman played out of his skin and was excellent throughout. After a head-to-head battle in the first half three wides for Limerick proved costly in the end. They lost by a point and are out of the championship while Cork move forward and play Clare next. Hard luck to the team, extended panel, and management and to our two club men who have done us proud all year.

Electric Ireland Munster Minor Hurling Championship
Limerick 1-14
Cork 0-20
Hard luck to the Minors who lost to last Tuesday in TUS Gaelic Grounds. Diarmuid Lyons started at centre field and had an excellent game. Cathal Hayes got a run for the last fifteen minutes. Good representation for our club and very proud of the boys so far in the season. Missed chances proved costly in the end. A win or draw would have put Limerick into the final but the missed frees in the final stages cost them badly. They were due to travel to Ennis to play Clare in the Semi Final last night at 6pm in Cusack Park Ennis. We hope the result went their way.

Championship Munster Hurling Round 2
Limerick 2-20
Clare 1-24
Hard luck to the Limerick Senior Hurlers who played Clare in the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday evening. Limerick were ticking along through the first half with Tom Morrissey once again having a very good game. Some of the big guns didn’t play well on the night and it caught up with us in the second half. Clare brought energy and hunger in spades and faced up to the All-Ireland champions in their home turf. They now face a crucial game against Tipperary in three weeks’ time. We are all hoping that Limerick take a well-deserved break and regroup, refresh and return to form for the clash in Thurles.

U15 Mr Binman Hurling Division 2
Under 15 hurlers off to winning start.
NCW 2-11
Adare 0-11
Our under 15 hurlers got their season of to a good start with a hard fought win over Adare in Pairc na Gael last Wednesday evening. Adare are never an easy opponent and this dual was no different as the visitors had obvious talent spread across their 15. Darragh O’Keeffe had us off the mark early with a well taken point before Declan O’Grady had the ball in the back of the net to put us up 1-1 to 0-0. Adare then came to life and in Eamon O’Sullivan at number 14 they had a player that looked like hurting us only for some great defending by our boys and 2 fantastic saves by goalkeeper Tiernan Horgan. In fact the opposition probably shaded possession for the remainder of the half but 3 more points from Darragh O’Keeffe (2 frees) and 1 each from Jack Horgan, Kian O ‘Keeffe and Declan O’Grady meant we were still holding the lead at half time. The second half again proved that there was nothing between these sides as points were exchanged in a tit for tat battle. A super 65 effort from Rory Vaughan followed by a sublime point from Kian o ‘Keeffe after a Kyle Hayes like run from the halfback position meant we were never behind. Declan O’Grady brought his tally to 1-2 with a good point before Jack Horgan pointed a well taken free. With time running out the away team pushed hard for a goal that would have levelled the teams but our full back line Darragh Liston, Mark Healy & Cormac Noonan were brave to every attack. With time nearly up Thomas Hanley now playing at full forward pounced on a ball batted out by the Adare keeper to strike to the net & put the game beyond the reach of the visitors. A good team performance by our boys with Captain Diarmuid Cremin at No.6 and Leon O’Flynn in midfield particularly to the fore.
Team: Tiernan Horgan, Cormac Noonan, Darragh Liston, Mark Healy, Ksavier Bochnak, Diarmuid Cremin(Captain), Thomas Hanley (1-0), Rory Vaughan(0-1), Leon O’Flynn, Kian O’Keeffe(0-2), Declan O’Grady(1-2), Darragh O’Keeffe(0-4) Aaron Mullenger, Jack Horgan(0-2), Sean Fitzgerald, Evan Crowley, Cillian Shanahan, Darragh Fitzgerald.

U15 Mr Binman Football
NCW 1-8
Adare 2-9
There was some really good quality football played by NCW in this highly enjoyable match. The sides were level on 6 occasions in what was a very close match. Adare lead at halftime 0-5 to 0-4. Sean Fitzgerald, Declan O’Grady and Tiernan Horgan the scorers for the home team with two top class saves from Charlie Moore also of note! A thunderous shot from Tristan Kirwan rebounded off the crossbar set the tone when play resumed. NCW took the lead with a goal from Darragh Liston. Adare caught us napping with a free launched into the square that dipped straight into the goal. An awful blow but the lads responded taking the lead again thanks to two points from Sean Fitzgerald, one a monster kick from the sideline. Adare drew level with 2 minutes left on the clock before a controversial goal (looked a square ball) ultimately decided the contest.
