INTERMEDIATE FOOTBALLERS
Congratulations to our Intermediate footballers who qualified for this year’s Intermediate Football Championship final.
They saw off the challenge of Mungret St Pauls following a tough battle in Claughaun GAA Grounds on Saturday.
A close first half saw us concede 2 goals to trail by 4 points at the break 2-6 to 1-5 having played into a strong breeze.
Our halftime talk must have been a good one as we slowly turned around a 5-point deficit into a 5-point gain as the half reached the midway point.
Possession football was vital and we controlled our ball well with Gordon Brown and captain Dylan Cronin to the fore.
It was a nail-biting finish when we conceded our second penalty to leave us 2 points up and try as they may Mungret couldn’t break our resolve and we held out to record a 3-12 to 3-10 victory.
Great credit to the lads who have worked so hard to get back to the level of last year and put us in with a fighting chance in the Championship final in a few weeks time.
Scorers: Dylan Cronin (-7, 4fr), Kieran Daly (1-3)Kevin Nolan(1-0,pen), Reuben McCarthy (1-0), Gordon Brown (0-2)
