NA PIARSAIGH

SENIOR HURLERS
Our senior hurlers completed their group stages with a final game versus Ahane.
Kilmallock was the venue with the team already in to a semi final so pressure was off.
It was a game of two first half penalties, Ahane scoring theirs on 4 minutes through Tom Morrissey and with 4 minutes to the break it was Kevin Downes turn to dispatch the penalty.
Ahane had the better of the opening half exchanges and led at the break by 7points, 1-15 to 1-8, Kevin Downes leading the charge with 1-3, 2 points each from Will Henn and Peter Casey and a point for Conor Boylan.
We chipped away at the Ahane lead and with 5 minutes remaining we had it down to three points.
Kevin Downes added three unanswered points to level the game with time almost up.
Ahane responded to go 2 clear again but Downsie levelled it again to leave the final score Na Piarsaigh 1-22 Ahane 1-22.
A semi final spot awaits the lads as the quarter finals now kick in in two weeks time.
A fine fight back by the lads who no doubt will take stock of this performance as they prepare for 4 weeks time.
INTERMEDIATE HURLERS
Our Intermediate hurlers were also in last round action on Sunday when they travelled to Clarina to take on Bruree.
This was a tough test from start to finish with no quarter asked or given.
It was Bruree who led at the short whistle on a 1-10 to 0-9 scoreline.
However, in a much improved second half we hit the front with two excellent goals from David Sheppard and John Fitzgerald and were in control.
A Bruree fightback and the second goal of their own brought the game back into the melting pot.
However, our lads were not to be denied and further points drove us over the line with a 2-20 to 2-16 result
We now qualify for a County semi-final and await the next round of quarter finals to decide our opponents
CAMOGIE
The senior camogie ladies were back in action on Saturday when they entertained Newcastlewest in Round 3 .
A fairly close first half with some good scores taken on both sides and it was NCW who led 0-9 to 0-5 at the break.
In the second half it was our opponents who kept the scoring board ticking over and try as they might our ladies just couldn’t close the gap.
A valiant effort from our young team but nevertheless were defeated on a 1-16 to 0-6 scoreline
Our under 16s had a brilliant display in the Shield final defeating Ballybrown in the final on an 8-08 to 1-10 scoreline
