MUNGRET ST.PAUL’S GAA CLUB NOTES
U-12/13 players
During lockdown our U-12/13 players were kept busy with zoom training sessions. We were very lucky with the weather as only one or two of the sessions had to to be taken indoors. The coaches got to relax as our older players got involved by taking on the task of leading the boys in drills. Football was coached by Cathal Roche while hurling had Jack McCarthy with the help of David Guilfoyle and Darragh O’Connor working to train the players. It was great to see the interaction between the young coaches and the players as they were getting stuck into the exercises and drills while being explained when they may need the skill involved. While some of our players may have been restricted in their training area, others made great use of their surroundings.
Well done to all the players who took part. On Saturday after training there was a presentation to 6 of the players, chosen by head coach Vinnie Gleeson and the junior coaches, prizes were very kindly sponsored by
Cobi Sports. In football : Conor Shelly, Charlie Tobin and Amhlaoibh Bohane. In hurling : Rory O’Callaghan, Ruairi Dwane and Alex Finucane.
FIELD WORK
Thank you to our merry troupe of men who took on and won their first match- U-17s V. stones in the pitches. Due to the recent works at our pitches many stones were unearthed and we are very thankful to the helpers who turned out in force to pick them up.
DEVELOPMENT
The plan is gathering pace and this week some visuals of the proposed plan have been displayed on the exterior of the club grounds. This allows the community to look at our ambitious plans. There will be further information on the launch of the plan throughout May!Exciting times ahead.
CAMOGIE
On Thursday 29th April, Rosa, from our U12’s was presented with a new Canning Hurley as a reward for the dedication and hard work she put into taking part in the “12 Day Skills Challenge” that was ran by the Camogie club over the easter holidays.
Many members got involved in the challenges, 12 of which won easter treats, however, Rosa was a clear winner. We have no doubt that there will be plenty of ball pucked with her new wand! Congratulations again Rosa!
