MONALEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

ALL-COUNTY FOOTBALL LEAGUE: Monaleen senior footballers are due to face Newcastle West in Division 1 of the All-County Football League on Saturday next, March 14 in Newcastle West at 3pm. Best of luck to players and coaches. All support appreciated. Monaleen lost out to Fr Casey’s 0-12 to 0-7 in Round 2 of the competition on Saturday last in Abbeyfeale.

U21 HURLING: Monaleen U21 hurlers are due to face Adare in their latest fixture in Group 1 of the County U21 A Hurling Championship in Adare on this Sunday, March 15 at 12 noon. Monaleen defeated Murroe-Boher in County U21 A Hurling Championship in Boher on Sunday last on a 4-14 to 2-14 scoreline. Monaleen led 3-5 to 0-8 at half-time. Monaleen have now won their opening two fixtures in the championship.

MEMBERSHIP: Monaleen GAA Club membership is now open and due for 2020. All playing members should pay without delay as there is no cover for any injury sustained in training or matches without membership being paid. The last day for payment for inclusion in any match ticket draws is, as always, March 31st. We appreciate your early attention to this.

LOTTO: The latest Lotto draw took place on March 5 with the jackpot standing at €20,000. The numbers drawn were 10, 15, 17 and 33. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were M. Burke, Louvain; R. Dzik, Riverbank; J. Clarke, Cherry field; T. Moylan, @ Monaleen Stores. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.

FREE CPR TRAINING: Irish Heart Foundation brings FREE CPR training to Monaleen GAA Club on Saturday, March 28th – book your place online now. CPR is an easy skill to learn and once you know how to do it, you could save someone’s life. This Free CPR training is being offered to Monaleen GAA Club members and the wider community. The Hands for Life CPR training course is open to all adults aged 18 and over. The training course takes just an hour to complete and all attendees will learn: How to recognise a cardiac arrest; How to perform compressions, including hands-on practice on a CPR training manikin; How to use an AED (Automated External Defibrillator; How to respond to a choking emergency; How to recognise a stroke.
Places must be booked online – use the link below to book your place. Training takes place at Monaleen GAA Clubhouse on Saturday March 28th. Courses available to book at 10 am, 11.30 am and 1pm.
Each individual that attends will receive a certificate following the training.
