LOTTO RESULTS: The latest Lotto draw took place on September 5, with the jackpot standing at €15,400. The numbers drawn were 4, 8, 30 and 36. Winners of the €50 lucky dips were C & C Donegan; P Ross, Newtown; D O’Mahoney, Beechfield, B Kenny c/o Hurlers. Tickets can be purchased on a weekly basis from local shops and pubs and the draw is held every Thursday night in the club at 10pm.

U-11 HURLERS: Our U11 hurlers hosted Sixmilebridge from Clare at Peafield Road on Friday night. The two clubs played each other in a series of keenly contested games. It was great to play against opposition of that level, the boys will have learned a lot. A special word of thanks to everyone who brought food and refreshments for after the matches. It was fantastically well received by the visiting boys and our own boys.

U14 HURLERS: Congratulations to the Monaleen U14 hurlers who defeated Mungret St Paul’s 2-10 to 2-6 in the Jack Lyons Memorial Cup Under 14 Hurling Division 1 semi-final at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday last. The sides had been level 1-7 to 2-4 at half-time. Monaleen will now face Na Piarsaigh in the county final.

The Monaleen U16 football squad which played Galbally in the Division 1 Shield final at Rathbane on Sunday morning

U16 FOOTBALLERS: Our U16 Gaelic Footballers concluded their 2019 season with a narrow defeat to Galbally in the Division 1 Shield Final at Rathbane on Sunday morning. Despite trailing by 7 points at half time the lads dug deep to bring the difference back to a single point in the second half with a couple of well taken goals. However, Galbally finished out the game with some well taken points in the closing minutes of the game to leave 4 points between the teams at the final whistle. While not the result we hoped for, it was a performance that the team can be proud of. This marks the end of an era in the Juvenile grades for a number of these players as they make the jump to the Minor grade in 2020 under the direction of the Senior club. Best of Luck in the future lads.

U16 HURLERS: Best of luck to the Monaleen U16 hurlers and management team who take on Na Piarsaigh in the Shane Hourigan Memorial Cup Under 16 Hurling Division 1 Championship semi-final this Sunday, September 15 in Claughaun at 12.30pm. All support appreciated.
