GROODY GAELS U19 LADIES FOOTBALL:
The Groody Gaels U19 team played Galtee Gaels in the first round of the county U19 league in Ballygiblin on Saturday last (5th March). In splendid sunshine, Groody Gaels gave a super team performance throughout to claim a dramatic last-minute victory to start the new season off in style.
Groody Gaels started the game in impressive fashion with a well taken point from corner forward Aoife Neville before Galtee Gaels struck for two early goals to take the lead. Groody continued to work hard throughout the field and following a super team move, corner forward Sarah Burke expertly shot to the Galtee net. Soon after, wing forward Siobhan Doran won possession at midfield and after a strong run through the middle of the Galtee defence, shot to roof of the net for a super goal to end the first half scoring for Groody Gaels. That left the half time score at Groody Gaels 2-1, Galtee Gaels 2-4.
Galtee Gaels started the second half the better of the two teams with some early scores before corner forward Aoife Neville struck for two well taken points to start the comeback. Soon after, wing forward Aoife O’Brien stepped up to brilliantly convert a penalty to the roof of the Galtee net. Following another super team move, corner forward Sarah Burke kept the team momentum going by slotting another well taken goal before Aoife O’Brien popped up for another fine point.
That left just one point between the teams and as both teams fought hard for every possession, corner forward Aoife Neville brilliantly won a long ball into the full forward line and shot to the Galtee net to take a dramatic late lead that would prove to be the difference between the two teams at the final whistle. Final Score: Groody Gaels 5:04 Galtee Gaels 3:09
Great credit is due to this young team of talented footballers who produced a superb come from behind victory against strong opposition to get a great start to the season. Next up is round 2 of the league away to Pallasgreen on Saturday 12th March.
Special mention to our generous Team Sponsor Trade Electric for all their support for the team.

CODE OF BEHAVIOUR (UNDERAGE): Croke Park are currently in the process of revising the current Cod of Behaviour for Underage following a process of consultation within the association. The Code is a vital reference and policy document that is enshrined in Rule. It acts as a daily guidance to Clubs and County Committees in our work with children and it also directs us in fulfilling our legal safeguarding responsibilities.
Unlike previous codes the revised and updated version will be available online only and shall be available to download by GAA Clubs and members from gaa.ie
A feature of the new Code is that each section has been designed to download as a standalone leaflet. This means that it will not be necessary for you or others to download the entire Code. You can simply access a particular section or even a subsection thus saving you time and the bother of printing multiple pages that may not be required at the time.
The most sought-after section of the code of behaviour has always been section 3, now titled Maintaining Good Practice and Behaviour. This revised section outlines the minimum levels of behaviour we expect and accept from young players, from our coaches, their parents, our clubs, referees and supporters. The link to this section can be found at https://www.gaa.ie/…/image/upload/iffeoynpytq94ysf6q5v.pdf
