U16’s
What a wonderful finish to the U16A Camogie League for Monaleen who captured the title after a resounding win against a gallant Newcastlewest
Huge credit to our entire panel of 28 for the work put in over the last few months. They challenged each other in training & worked hard to improve their skills & were rewarded with an U16 league title for their hard work.
A tough physical encounter between these 2 great rivals resulted in a 6-12 to 2-06 victory for our ladies but the game was closer than the scoreline suggested with Newcastle West battling to the end.
The Monaleen girls had good pre-season matches against St. Colmans Galway, Iniscarra Cork & Boherlahan Tipperary which was a good foundation for the league.
In our group games we racked up good wins scoring 1-18 v Knockaderry/Templeglantine, 2-14 v Patrickswell & in the final 6-12 v Newcastle West.
A great team performance with contributions from the entire team & the subs made a big impact also when introduced. Joint Captains Grace & Carrie accepted the League Cup to start great celebrations.
Massive congratulations to all the panel & keep up the good work.

U13
On Tuesday 10th May , our U13s played in their 3rd round league U14C match away to Crecora. They came up against a very strong crecora u14 team who dominated the first half but these Monaleen girls don’t give up and they rattled 3 brilliant goals to the net in the second half which was a credit to their hard working attitude and determination. Unfortunately it wasn’t to be enough but they can hold their heads high as they await their next league match in the coming weeks.
Today they headed up to the annual Faughs U13 tournament in Dublin. Monaleen have had great days out here over the years and have missed it over the past few years due to covid.
The girls played tough matches today against the hosts Faughs , Abbeyknockmoy, Galway and Dicksboro Kilkenny, before overcoming Naas in their last match.
Well done to 2 of our U13 talented girls who played at half time in the Primary game in Ennis today .
Great achievement for Ellie Fitzgerald ( Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh) and Anna Regan Magnier ( Milford ns)
U11
Our U11s are having a very busy period. We hosted the second U11 blitz last sat 7th May in the Clubhouse. The 25 available girls played 3 really competitive matches against Adare, Crecora and Granagh Ballingarry.
Then yesteday it was round 3 , this time on a gorgeous sunny afternoon in Ahane where the 16 girls played Patrickswell, Ahane and Granagh Ballingarry.
Castletroy College
Castletroy junior camogie team had a great win in the county A Quarter final this week. They played a strong SMI Newcastlewest school but the girls played brilliantly and the combined Monaleen and Ahane girls came away with a good win on a scoreline of
Castletroy College 6-9
SMI Newcastlewest 1-8
Next Thursday 19th is the semi final against Laurel Hill colaiste.
