FEILE: Our under 15 boys reached the Feile Semi Final last Monday where we were defeated by eventual winners Ahane on a scoreline of 1:9 to 4 points. The boys reached this stage by winning 2 and losing 1 of their group games last Saturday out in Na Piarsaigh.
PRIMARY GAME: Well done to Conor Langan on playing for Limerick in the primary game in Cork last Sunday. Hopefully the first of many great days in green.
MONALEEN U9 AND U10’s: Our under 9 and under 10 hurlers took a bus trip to Cork last Sunday and played a blitz against Blackrock and Douglas . After a tough hours hurling we got some refreshments before heading to the Cork V Limerick game. A great day was had by all.
MONALEEN CAMOIGE NOTES:
*Intermediates*
Our intermediates made it 3 out of 3 in Division 2 of the league.
Played in Peafield last Monday 11th of April, the girls were given a real test in the first half by a strong and experienced Killeedy team. By the second half the girls got into their stride and were now playing against 14 after a red card was shown to a Killeedy player. Some well worked scores as well as tight defending saw Monaleen come out with a
5-15 to 2-6 win. Our final group game will take place ina couple of weeks against Croagh Kilfinny.
*Juniors*
Our junior team play their second league match tmow Monday 18th April in Clubhouse pitch against Na Piarsaigh. After a defeat in their opening match, this is a must win game for this group. Best of luck to them.
*U16s*
Our U16 A team played their first league match last Thursday 14th April at home to Knockaderry/ Templeglantine. The girls had a tough encounter against a good amalgamated club but despite conceeding a couple of goals , their superiority skill and lovely passing shone through in the end and with some fine scores they came out winners on a scoreline of 1-18 to 3-5.
Next match will take place ina couple of weeks.
Our U16 B team had a bye this week but will be in action again in the coming weeks.
*U15*
Our u15s are training away in preparation for the up coming camogie feile which is due to take place next Sunday 24th April in Mick Neville pk Rathkeale. We wish them all the best and all the support is welcome.
*U14*
It was round 2 for both our U14 teams in the league.
Our U14 team ( 2008) played in the A league against a very strong and highly fancied Killeedy in the Clubhouse last Tuesday. Unfortunately Killeedy proved too strong on the night for our girls who put in great effort despite been down a few players due to holidays . Special mention to our three U12 players Aisling O Connor, Emma Griffin and Cara Clifford who helped out the U14s and did very well too. Thank you girls.
Our second u14 team ( 2009 u13s) played in the C league on the same night in Ahane. The u13s had already beaten Murroe a few weeks previous and once again they played very well against a well experienced Ahane team but came up a little bit short this time . Match finished 3-5 to 4-0 to Ahane.
Player of the match was Monaleen goalkeeper Aoibhin Kitson who pulled off some excellent saves between the posts. Well done all.
*U12*
Our u12s played their first challenge match last week against Mungret out in Mungret. The team was missing a few girls due to holidays so called on the help of a few U11s. They played a very good competitive game against Mungret and really enjoyed themselves. Hopefully this is only the start of many more matches for this group.
*U11s*
Our u11s are training away twice a week and will take part in the Monaleen/ Ahane blitz once again on May 7th.
Before that they have a challenge lined up against Sixmilebridge next weekend.
*U10s*
The U10s had an early start last Sunday when they played Patrickswell at the clubhouse at 9am.
Even though it was the start of the Easter holidays, Monaleen had over 20 girls and they played 2 great matches on a lovely morning for camogie. Every girl got plenty of playing time and are improving with every game.
*U9 U8 U7 U6*
U6 through to U9 continue to train away every Sunday morning. The kids finished up last Sunday for a mini Easter break. There was lots of great games and fun to be heard at the clubhouse and the well deserved treats at the end were very welcomed.
*Castletroy College*
Castletroy college senior camogie team are in the limerick county final after a convincing win over John the Baptist school , Hospital in the semi final. They now play a strong Doon school in the final on Wednesday 27th April at 1pm in Murroe. This is a great achievement for the school who only have Monaleen and Ahane as feeder clubs . We wish them all the best in the final . All support will be greatly appreciated.
Hard luck to Caoimhe Lyons Aoife Nelligan and Ella Hession who were part of the Limerick senior camogie team who were defeated by Clare last weekend in the relegation playoff. Limerick will now play in the division 2 in the league in 2023.
Also hard luck to Laura Southern and Saoirse Fitzgerald who were part of the minor team who lost out to Clare yesterday in the Munster championship.
Well done to all our 10 girls who play u16 with Limerick. Both A and B teams came away with wins in their respective competions.
