Today was county Semi final day for our Intermediate team. After losing out in last years final after a replay, the girls were hoping to go one better this time. Today in Adare they faced last years junior A winners who are a strong outfit with county stars Caoimhe Costello and Sophie O Callaghan part of their team. Adare got off to the perfect start with 2 first half goals . Aine Doyle got 4 frees for Monaleen and Caoimhe Lyons and Ruth Heavy a point each but it was Adare who went into the break in the lead 2-7 to 0-6.
The teams shared a point each at the start of the second half before Monaleen started to come into the game and scored 4 points without reply. Adare responded well with 3 of their own points before Caoimhe Lyons scored a superb goal to put 3 points between the teams. This set up a very tense finish where Monaleen pushed forward and searched for the equalising goal . A final point from Aine from the free wasn’t enough and unfortunately our intermediates year came to an end on a scoreline of
Monaleen 1-12
Adare 2-11
A disappointing end to a year in which the girls won the intermediate league title and were only beaten twice throughout league and championship.
This will be tough to take today but they will regroup and they will be back stronger than ever next year.
We are very proud of all the hard training, effort and dedication that these players give to their club and we can be well assured that we will be senior before long.

*Junior B*
Our Junior Bs lost their final group match last weekend away to Granagh Ballingarry. This means that they now face a plate semi final in a couple of weeks time versus Adare. Best of luck all.
*U16*
On Thursday 22nd September, our talented U16s played their A Championship Semi Final at home against a strong Granagh Ballingarry team. Granagh had already beaten the girls a few weeks previously in the group stages but this time the girls were determined to reverse that result.
Monaleen got off to the perfect start with an early goal from Bella Collins and points from Sarah Burke(2) Bella, Ellie Madden and Ciara Buckley before Grace Hegarty also found the back of the net to give Monaleen a comfortable lead. Points followed from Ella Rock and Ciara which saw the girls finish the half on a score line of
Monaleen 2-7
Granagh Ballingarry 0-4
The second half saw the intensity drop some what but the girls continued to dominate and battled hard. Grace Field was hugely dominant in defence and cleared every ball with ease . Midfielders Ciara and Rebecca were everywhere and won plenty of ball which they laid off nicely to our forwards where Ellie lead the way with 3 fine points from play and 2 placed balls . Substitutes Millie, Robyn , Niamh and Emma made big impacts when they came on as the girls saw out the game on a final score line of
Monaleen 2-12
Granagh Ballingarry 0-6.
The girls will now contest the U16 A Championship final next Sunday against Newcastlewest.
Wishing the girls the very best as they look to add to their minor A title a couple of months back.
Team
Faye Coffey, Ella O Halloran, Grace Field, Emma McGrath, Carrie McCormack, Saoirse Fallon, Caoimhe McInerney, Ciara Buckley(0-2), Rebecca Bromell, Ellie Madden(0-5 2 frees), Grace Hegarty(1-0), Aoife O’Brien, Ella Rock(0-1), Bella Collins(1-1), Sarah Burke (0-2), Robyn d’Arcy (0-1), Millie Reen, Niamh Twomey, Emma O Leary, Andrea Costello, Molly Morrissey, Erika McCarthy
*U14*
Our U14s played their final round match of the U14 championship on sat 24th September with an away match to Na Piarsaigh. The girls were missing a number of players through injury but battled hard against a very strong Na Piarsaigh team.
They scored 2-5 which was an improvement on previous scores but ultimately this wasn’t enough .
Final score
Monaleen 2-5
Na Piarsaigh 6-11
With the win over Granagh Ballingarry, this saw the girls finish 3rd in their group and they played the plate semi final against Adare yesterday in Peafield .
This was a game with 2 evenly matched teams and there was plenty of opportunity at both goal ends but it was Adare who got the most scores and won out on a scoreline of
Monaleen 2-4
Adare 4-6
Hard luck to the girls. Its been a tough year stuck in a group with very strong teams to contend with.
The girls will be back and better no doubt as they move forward to U16 next year.
Well done all
*U14 C*
Our U13s played their second league game in the U14 C competition against the highly fancied and very strong/ skillful Crecora side in the Clubhouse pitch last week.
Crecora certainly lived up to my description 😄 as they took hold of this game from the word go and dominated .
The second half saw the sides more even as crecora took off their stronger players. This lead to a very entertaining half where our young u13s came into the game and scored a very good 2-4 with plenty of great determination and intensity . Alas it wasn’t enough but the girls could hold their heads high and move forward.
Final score
Monaleen 2-4
Crecora 8-7
The final group match was played on Tuesday last away to Kilmallock who had beaten the Girls in the league final a few months back by a solidarity 1 point.
Once more this was a hugely intense and competitive battle. The girls played their hearts out and were fantastic but sadly Kilmallock took the points once more on a scoreline
Monaleen 1-1
Kilmallock 1-4
Monaleen are now finished their group matches. They have been very unlucky to not win both matches against Murroe Boher and Kilmallock so there’s absolutely nothing to be down about and they now look forward to a plate semi final next weekend ( tbc) .
Keep it going girls
*U12*
Our U12s have had a superb 2022. They competed in the Limerick camogie U12 blitzes earlier in the year and this week they played the final match in their U12 Autumn league where they won 5 out of their 6 matches which meant they topped the group.
They scored an amazing 21 goals and 23 points( 21-23) in these 6 matches. The difference in the girls level of skill and camogie from the start of the year is immense. The matches and training have improved the girls 100% and we look forward to seeing what the future holds for these talented girls.
Last Saturday, they took part in the invitational Reginal Long Memorial tournament in Mungret. Here they played 4 matches even beating the eventual winners Crecora and Galbally but unfortunately lost out on a semi final slot. They had a wonderful day and enjoyed playing some of the top teams in the county.
Well done all
*U11*
Our U11s like our U12s have had a huge busy year . Earlier in the year they took part in the Monaleen/ Ahane U11 blitzes which set then up for the county blitzes where they enjoyed many more games. They have just completed their U12 Autumn league where they were matched with U12 teams of similar standard/ ability. Our U11s were never fazed playing against U12 teams and even though they sometimes had 32 girls to manage, they did this easily and ensuring plenty of game time for each player. Like our U12s , the difference in this team from those first U11 blitzes back in April to now is a joy to watch.
The girls played 6 league matches winning 5 out of 6 and thus topped their group. They scored an astounding
20 goals and 18 points( 20-18) which is some achievement.
They now look forward to ending the year on a high as next weekend they take part in the county Tesco sponsored U11 Festival blitz.
We are hosting one of the 3 venues in the Clubhouse so we come along and watch as 2 of our U11 teams showcase their skills.
Best of luck next sat. Enjoy🥳🥳
*U10s*
Our U10s are playing in the County U10 Autumn league.
Last Sunday they were away in Newcastlewest where they played some really good matches against a strong team from the west. Our girls were well able and more than matched them on the field with their intensity and competitiveness.
This morning then they were due to host Croagh Kilfinny but unfortunately they had to pull out due to a bereavement. Hopefully they can reschedule over the next few weeks. Instead they played an in house mini blitz where there was plenty of good skill and camogie on display.
*U9*
Our U9s played Na Piarsaigh last Sunday out in Caherdavin. They were up against a very strong u10 team but the girls enjoyed some hard, well fought matches and are improving their skills with every game.
Yesterday the girls and their coaches/ parents were invited to Killarney for the Veronica Stack memorial tournament. 29 excited girls headed off on the bus early and had a fantastic day out where they played a few matches and had great fun gwith their friends.
They were well looked after by the host club Killarney and after a stop for more food on the way home, they all arrived back in Monaleen with happy smiling faces after a super trip. Well done all. Well deserved. Big thanks yo our U16 player and first Whistler Niamh Twomey who helped referee the matches in Killarney👏👏
Our U9s will finish up their playing season in a couple of weeks as they host Oranmore from Galway in the Clubhouse for another great day of camogie.
*U8*
Our U8s finished up their Autumn league campaign this morning when they took the journey out to Bruff to play them in some great matches. They all played excellently and are continuing to improve with each match / blitz . They may have another blitz next weekend
They now turn to training for the next couple of months to finish off their U8 season.
Well done U8s.
*U7*
Our U7s are busily training every Sunday morning and are continuing to progress nicely.
*U6*
Like our U7s, the u6s are happily training away every Sunday morning.
Well done all. Monaleen Abú
