Junior A Hurling Championship Group 2 – Round 1:
Kilteely Dromkeen 6.21 – 3.13 Garryspillane in Hospital, 12th September
Our hurlers recorded a fine second win in the championship this Sunday evening in hospital.
The first half was nip and tuck, we led 1.9 to 1.7 at half time. It was the third quarter where we pulled away, scoring 3.8 to 0.2 to lead 4.17 to 1.9 at the final water break.
Credit to Garryspillane they rallied in the last quarter, but we ran out winners in the end, well done lads. Some fantastic skill on show in these two games making the performances extremely enjoyable for all.
The late great Fr.Willie Hennessey of Ballinlough, Kilteely and former Parish priest of Garryspillane/Glenbrohane, came to mind during this novel clash between KD and Garryspillane. Dearly missed and fondly remembered by both parishes as a player and club man of Kilteely Dromkeen (played on the 1972 County Winning team) and as a huge supporter of Garryspillane GAA also, a true Gael. He would have enjoyed the sporting nature and skill of Sunday’s game immensely. Interestingly, that link between both parishes is even more real today as Fr. Joe Tynan, P.P. of Kilteely Dromkeen has also been P.P. of Garryspillane/Glenbrohane since Fr. Hennessy’s passing in 2020.
Team: Jack ‘Donie’ Franklin, Sean O’Dea, Daniel Gleeson, James Dalaigh, Fionn Murphy, Denny Ahern, James O’Regan, Brian O’Grady, Robbie Holmes, Denis O’Dea, Jamie McCarthy, Daniel Holton, Pearse Close, Daniel Holton David Murphy, Keelan O’Dea; David Hannon, Shane O’Dea, Eoghan O’Dea, Dylan Holmes, Chrissy Lonergan, Declan Kenny, Matthew Hanley, Conor Ahern
