County Scór:
After 51 years competition Johnny O’Riordan wins County Scór medal
Johnny O’Riordan of Granagh-Ballingarry who first competed in Scór away back in 1974 won his first ever Limerick County Senior Scór medal, when he teamed up with Christine Connell to win the instrumental music competition at the 2025 Limerick County Senior Scor Final held in Askeaton Community Hall on Friday night.
In the solo singing competition Granagh-Ballingarry were also represented by Johnny O’Riordan, won by Liam O Brudair of Fr Caseys. Rita O’Grady of Monagea won the recitational/storytelling; Ahane – drama; Bruff – ballad group and Crecora Manistir – set dancing.
We wish Johnny and Christine the best of luck in the Munster Instrumental Music Scór semi-final on Saturday 22nd March at 2.30pm in Pallasgreen community hall.
County Senior Scór Question Time Final:
Twelve teams took part in the Limerick County Senior Scór question time final at Mungret St. Paul’s GAA Clubhouse on Thursday night. The Granagh-Ballingarry team of Stephen Stapleton, Pat Herlihy, Jimmy Chawke and Seamus Twomey did very well to finish 9th on 50 points after a close contest behind winners South Liberties, Mungret St. Paul’s ladies football club, Na Piarsaigh, Rathkeale, Mungret St. Paul’s GAA club, Banogue, Newcastle West and Garryspillane.
Thank you to our Scór officer Maura Friel Lynch, Johnny, Christian, Stephen, Pat, Jimmy and Seamus for representing our club with pride in Senior Scór 2025.
Walkover in opening round of City-East-West Junior A Football League:
Granagh-Ballingarry received a walkover from Monaleen in the opening round of Group 2 in the City-East-West Junior A Football League due to be played in Ballingarry on Sunday. The Granagh-Ballingarry boys’ next outing in their league is on Saturday 29th March, when they travel to Fedamore to play the home side at 3pm.
Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake Launch:
The launch of the 12th annual Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake takes place tomorrow Thursday 13th March at Limerick Greyhound Stadium at 6pm. Light bites and refreshments will be served in the Limerick Greyhound Stadium and the launch of the 12th annual Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Stake 2.25 sponsored by JP and Noreen McManus will take place and club information packs will also be available for collection.
West Junior B Hurling League Group/Opener:
Granagh-Ballingarry make the first defence of their West Junior B Hurling League title at home to Dromcollogher/Broadford on this Sunday 16th at 3pm. 12 teams – Askeaton-Ballysteen-Kilcornan Desmonds, Crecora Manistir, Tournafulla, Newcastle West, Feohanagh-Castlemahon, and Feenagh-Kilmeedy and Knockaderry, Adare, Croagh-Kilfinny, St. Kierans, Dromcollogher-Broadford and Granagh-Ballingarry in Group 2 have entered with the top two teams in each group to qualify for the semi-finals.
Top team in Group 1 v second team in Group 2 and top team in Group 2 v second team in Group 1.
An exciting game of hurling is in prospect so some out and support the boys in black and green and their management team this Sunday 16th March at 3pm in Ballingarry as they bid to make a winning start to the defence of their West Junior B hurling league title.

Draw Promoters hits the streets:
Granagh-Ballingarry GAA Club draw promoters are taking to the streets of the parish to canvas members to join the club draw, which will be held quarterly with €2,000 in prizes. 1st prize €1,000 and ten prizes of €100 with the option to join the club weekly lottery/country club draw for €200. If you wish to renew your membership please contact your promoter as soon as possible as the first draw is due to take place in early April.
2025 County GAA Club Draw:
Granagh-Ballingarry GAA club are once more promoting the Limerick County Club Draw. There will be monthly draws from March to December with a top prize of €10,000. There are a host of other prizes to be won, 2nd €3,000, 3rd €2,000, 4th €1,000, 5th executive star prize, 6th to 9th €500; 10th to 13th €300; 14th to 30th €200.
Thank you to all who joined the draw through our club in 2024 with six winners Liam Carroll won €200 in April, Patsy Quinn won €300 in June, Elizabeth Cregan €3,000 in July, Margaret Kelly €500, Jack Hennessy and Noel Noonan €200 each in November. 2025 GAA National Club Draw:
Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club are promoting the 2025 National Club Draw. There is no financial cost to the club to get involved as the cost of tickets and prizes are covered by the Central Council. In addition to maintaining the proceeds for all tickets sold by the club, any club who sells a minimum of 200 tickets automatically gets into a draw for €1,000, a prize won by Granagh Ballingarry GAA Club in March 2024. Prizes include 1st €50,000, 2nd €20,000, 3rd €10,000. Other prizes include All Ireland Final tickets and overnight package, €2,500 voucher plus a number of other cost prizes. Tickets are currently on sale in local shops/bars and from promoters.
Limerick GAA Season Tickets:
Limerick County GAA Board launched their 2025 season tickets recently. The tickets will entitle the bearer entry to all Limerick County Board club games in 2025. For €150 it would make an ideal present for a family member or friend and can be purchased online at limerickgaa.ie Tel 061-335576.
National Hurling and Football League Tickets:
All Granagh/Ballingarry club members please take note that tickets for all Limerick National Hurling League Division 1A and National Football League Division 4 games are only available online through Ticketmaster and not through clubs.
Club Membership 2025:
Granagh/Ballingarry GAA club membership fees for 2025 are fixed at €100 to include membership of the club draw. Bord na nÓg players €40 (€90 maximum for two or more players). No family membership. Players to register online to pay fees through foireannatgaa.ie as per official guide before training and playing season commence to be covered by insurance.

Hearty congratulations to 6-in-a-row Munster hurling champions, Limerick, manager John Kiely, our own Darragh O’Grady, stats and the rest of the management team on their impressive 12 point 1-27 to 0-18 victory over gallant Galway to secure their second win in Division 1A of the National Hurling League in front of a good crowd played in cold dry conditions at Páirc na nGael on Saturday evening to go fourth on the table on 5 points, 1 behind Galway with a game on hand against Kilkenny on Saturday 15th March in Nowlan Park, Kilkenny at 3.30pm.

Munster U20 Football Championship Phase 1 Round 1
Tipperary 3-8 Limerick 0-6
Tipperary made a winning start to Phase 1 of the Munster U20 Football Championship with a 7-point 3-8 to 0-6 victory over gallant Limerick at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Saturday. Dáithí Hogan with 2-2, 0-1 free and Paddy O’Keeffe 1-2 paved the way for victory for the visitors. The Treaty boys will aim to get championship campaign back on track when they travel to Dungarvan on this Saturday 15th March at 2pm. Please support.
National Football League Division 4 Round 6:
The best of luck to manager Jimmy Lee and all involved with the Limerick senior footballers who bid for a fourth straight win in Division 4 of the National Football League against Wicklow on this Sunday 16th March in Echelon Park, Aughrim at 2pm. Your support would be appreciated.

€9,200 jackpot on Saturday:
There was no winner of the 9,100 jackpot in the Granagh/Ballingarry GAA Club lottery on Saturday 8th March. The numbers drawn were 1, 11, 16 and 25. The lucky dips of €20 each went to Eddie O’Brien promoter online, Pat Noonan and Joanne Long promoter Condron’s Bar, Ballingarry, Mike Healy promoter Mike Healy, John Sheehan promoter Stephen Stapleton.
