The two charecfters in the rise ands fall of regional perrin who keep saying ‘great and super’ would have had a field day if they had been in Sean Finns Park, Rathkeale on Sunday afternoon because there was much to admirew about the performance of 18 year old Paudie Murphy wearing the number 15 jersey who stylishly and systematically dismanteled the resistance of Knockaderry by scoring 2-3 from open play for Granagh Ballingarry in their comfortable ten point victory over neighbours Knockaderry to claim their second grase of points in group 2 of the Limerick county Intermediate Hurling Championship to go second in the group on 4 points two behind neighbours Croagh Kilfinny to stay in contention for the knockout stages. Micheal Sexton of Bruree took charge of this county Intermediate Hurling Championship Group 2 Round 3 tie played on an excellent pitch in front of a big crowd who gave great support to their sides.
Both number 11’s Donal O’Grady of Granagh Ballingarry from open play and Mark Donaher from a placed ball traded white flags in the opening 3 minutes before a trio of white flags for the Granagh Ballingarry boys from open play through Paudie Murphy on 4 minutes Luke Flynn 6 minutes and Paudie Murphy on 8 minutes to leave it 0-4 to 0-1 in favour of the boys from Knockfierna. Then Mark Danaher split the uprights for the second time from a placed ball for the Knockaderry boys on 10 minutes before the in form Paudie Murphy finished past Knockaderry keeper Micheal O’Sullivan a minute later to leave the Granagh Ballingarry boys five ahead 1-4 to 0-2 on 11 minutes.
A couple of wides were exchanged before a second white flag by Donal O’Grady on 13 minutes and a second green flag by Paudie Murphy 3 minutes later to extend the Granagh Ballingarry boys advantage to nine 2-5 to 0-2 on 19minutes. Then Mark Danaher from a placed ball on 20 minutes and Tom Condron from open play on 23 minutes won points back for Knockaderry before white flags were traded by Darragh Casey ffrom open play on 24 minutes and Mark Danoher from a placed ball a minute later to leave seven between the sides Granagh Ballingarry 2-6 Knockaderry 0-5 on 25 minutes. The Knockaderry boys with the wind at their backs finished the opening half strong with a pair of white flags courtesy of their no.11 Mark Danaher from placed ball on 27minutes and a 65 on 30 minutes to reduce the deficit to five Granagh Ballingarry 2-6 Knockaderry 0-7 at the interval.
Knockaderry despite playing into the wind dominated the opening eight minutes after the interval with a pair of white flags from a placed ball through Mark Danaher before points were traded from placed balls by Damien O’Donovan on 40 minutes and Mark Danaher two minutes later to leave three between the sides Granagh Ballingarry 2-7 Knockaderry 0-10 on 42 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before Mark Danaher landed his ninth white flag from a placed ball to reduce the deficit to two 2-7 to 0-11 at the end of the third quarter. Granagh Ballingarry now began to up their game with four unanswered white flags through Damien O’Donovan (free) on 47 minutes Luke Flynn (play) on 48 minutes substitute Sean O’Connor (play) on 19minutes and Paudie Murphy (play) two mionutes later to increase their advantage to six 2-11 to 0-11 on 51 minutes. Mark Danaher won a point back for Knockaderry from a placed ball on 52 minutes before Denis O’Connor following good work by Darragh Casey raised the Granagh Ballingarry boys third green flag a minute later to leave wight between the sides Granagh Ballingarry 3-11 Knockaderry 0-12 on 53 minutes. Then Mark Danaher landed his 11th point from a free on 54 minutes before the Granagh Ballingarry boys rounded off a fine all round team performance with a trio of unanswered white flags through Sean O’Connor (play) on 55 minutes Damien O’Donovan (free) on 57 minutes and Sean O’Connor (play) on 61 minutes. At the final whistle the Granagh Ballingarry boys were comfortable ten point 3-14 to 0-13 winners of the second brase of points in group 2 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championships to go second in the group of the county on 4 points two behind neighbours Croagh Kilfinny to stay in contention for the knockout stages and can look forward with confidence to the next round this Sunday 11th September against Pallasgreen level on 2 points with Knockaderry, Kilmallock and Hospital Herbertstown in Bruff at 2pm. Granagh Ballingarry scored 3-11 from play 0-3 from frees. Knockaderry scored 0-11 from play from frees and 0-1 from a 65.

All roads led to Sean Finns Park, Rathkeale on Thursday evening for the clash of Granagh Ballingarry and Tournafulla in the County U13 Division 2 hurling championship demi final played in front of a big crowd. The Granagh Ballingarry boys set off with a great start scoring 1-5 in the first half, the goal coming from the stick of full forward Nigel Noonan to send the black and greens in at the interval leading by three 1-4 to 0-4. The Killeedy-Tournafulla boys come out in the second half with all guns blazing hoping to get goals. They continued to aim for goals with attacks the Granagh Ballingarry keeper Liam English stood strong with some great saves. He was well assisted by his strong back line of Ben Houlihan, Charlie Hanley and Niall O’Shea. The half back line Alex Condron, Diarmuid Kiely and William O’Grady worked really hard blocking hooking and clearing balls. The mid field engine room of Nathan Hartnett and Dany O’Grady were buzzing around working tirelessly. Granagh Ballingarry forwards working more in defence than attack in the second half. Declan Denworth and Eoin Kelly and Adam Mulqueen helped out the half back throughout the second half. The full forward line of Sean Stapleton,
Nigel Noonan and Liam O’Kelly gave an outlet for any ball cleared by Granagh Ballingarry backs. This team showed great passion and tireless work replacements on for tired legs were James McDonagh, Jamie O’Grady, Micheal Curtin, Edward Purcell and Harry Aherne worked really hard to see out this well deserved victory and a place in the final against Newcastle West, date, time and venue to be confirmed.

Holders Adare booked their place in the semi final to the West Limerick Junior B Hurling Championship with a hard fought two point victory over gallant Granagh Ballingarry in ideal conditions at Croagh on Friday evening.
Billy Philips of Tournafulla took charge of this West Junior B Hurling Championship Group 1 round 4 the between the 2020 and 2021 champions. Played on an excellent pitch played in front of a good crowd who gave great support to their teams who in turn produced a final hard fought contest with the issue in doubt right up to the final whistle.
Adare no 13 Rory O’Connor and Granagh Ballingarry no 8 Eoin Lynch traded white flags from 65s in the opening three minutes before four unanswered points for Adare through their no 11 Liam Dunne (play) on 5 minutes and Rory O’Connor (free) on 7 minutes (play) on 9 minutes and (free) two minutes later to leave it 0-5 to 0-1 in favour of holders Adare on 11 minutes. A couple of wides were exchanged before eoin Lynch finally finally ended 12 minutes with out a Granagh Ballingarry score when he split the uprights for the second time from a 65 to reduce the deficit to three 0-5 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter. Then Richie O’Keeffe from a place ball and Micheal Carrol had wides for Granagh Ballingarry before Rory O’Connor split the uprights for the third time for the Adare boys fro open play on 20 minutes to extend their advantage to four. The Granagh Ballingarry for being overcrewed had a green flags raised by Micheal Carroll obn 22 minutes to reduce the deficit to one 0-6 to 1-2. Then after six minutes of scoreless play Liam Dunne of Adare finally found the range when he split the uprights from open play on 29 minutes to send the boys in red and black in at the interval leading by two 0-7 to 1-2.
On the resumption of play wides were exchanged before Adam O’Brien split the uprights following a good solo run on 53 minutes to increase the Adare boys advantage to three. Then after four minutes of scoreless play the Granagh Ballingarry boys up their game with four unanswered white flags through Ronan Mullane (play) on 38 minutes Eoin Lynch (65) on 40 minutes and (play) on 42 and 45 minutes to leave the boys in black and green ahead for the first time by one 1-6 to 0-8 at the end of the third quarter. Then white flags were traded from open play by Luke Mackessey on 47 minutes and Eoin Lynch three minutes later to leave the Granagh Ballingarry boys again one ahead 1-7 to 0-9 on 50 minutes. Holders Adare up their game for the final ten minutes of this close hard fought West Junior B Hurling Championship tie with a trio of unanswered white flags through Micheal Southgate (play) on 53 minutes. Rory O’Connor (65) on 55 minutes and (free). On 59 minutes to bring his tally for the game to 0-6 (1 play, 3 frees, 2 65s) to seal a hard-fought two-point 0-12 to 1-7 victory over gallant Granagh/Ballingarry to finish top of Group 1 in the West Junior B Hurling Championship on eight points to qualify for the semi final while joint second on four points. Granagh/Ballingarry and Newcastlewest clash in the final group stage game on Friday September 9th in Knockaderry at 6.30pm for a quarter final spot. Adare scored 0-7 from play, 0-3 from frees and 0-2 from 65s, Granagh/Ballingarry scores 1-5 from play and 0-2 from 65s.

Knockaderry is the venue on this Friday 9th September at 6.30pm for the meeting of Granagh/Ballingarry and Newcastlewest in the final game of Group 1 in the West Junior B Hurling Championship. Both sides will enter Friday’s game in joint second place on four points. An exciting game is in prospect in Knockaderry on Friday at 6.30pm and your support would be welcome to cheer on the boys in black and green and their management team in their bid to finish second in Group 1 on six points to qualify for the quarter final of the West Junior B Hurling Championship.

Bruff is the venue on Sunday 11th September at 1pm for the mouth-watering clash of Granagh/Ballingarry at Pallasgreen in Round 4 of Group 2 in the County Intermediate Hurling Championship. Granagh/Ballingarry will enter Sunday’s game in second place on the League/Championship table on four points after going under to Croagh/Kilfinny by one point, 0-17 to 0-16, and defeated Hospital/Herbertstown by six, 2-14 to – 1-23 and Knockaderry by ten points, 3-14 to 0-13 last time out. Pallasgreen levelled in the shirt spot on two points with Knockaderry/Kilmallock and Hospital/Herbertstown defeated Knockaderry by three 0-18 to 2-9 in their opening game and suffered two straight defeats to Croagh/Kilfinny by one point 0-19 to 1-15 in Round 2 and to Kilmallock by six, 2-12 to 0-12 last time out. So Bruff is the place to be this Sunday at 1pm to cheer on the boys in black and green and their management – a hat-trick of wins in Group 2 of the County Intermediate Hurling Championship to stay in contention for the knock-out stages.
