GALTEE GAELS
County U19 Champions
Our U19 team secured the U19B football title last week with a strong performance from this young side.
Played in lovely conditions in Kilbreedy with a large Gaels following at the game, Zach opened our account with a point. We continued to play a lovely brand of football and we found the back of the net when the hard working Keelan Hogan delivered an excellent pass to find Zach who finished off a well worked goal. Defensively we were very secure at the back with Jack Ryan, Declan Moriarty and Luke Cooney stopping the Banogue forwards making any impact on the game. Once again Zach McCarthy was causing the Banogue defence headaches as he continued to add to his tally along with Keelan Hogan and Adam O’Keeffe to leave the half-time time score 1-7 to 5 points after a late rally from Banogue.
We continued to perform strongly in the second half with Conor McGrath and Cian Hogan added to our scorers. The score of the game came from Keelan Hogan when he tracked back to win a turnover and finished off an excellent move by popping over a point. Credit must go to Banogue who kept fighting on the night but it was not meant to be for them on the day as they met a prepared Gaels side who all worked extremely hard on the day. Final score on the day Galtee Gaels 1-15 to 0-7.
Well done to the management team of Conor Moriarty, Alan Coughlan and Padraig McGrath and all the players on their hard work over the last few months. It was great to see another county title in the club.
