FIELD DEVELOPMENT PLANS
Glenroe GAA Development Project
New AstroTurf for Glenroe GAA
We have received an amazing €143,000 from Sports Capital and a further €70,000 from Tomar Trust to get our Project underway. We must now commence a massive fundraising campaign to raise in excess of €100,000. A number of events will be organised in 2022/2023 to ensure we reach our target. To commence our fundraising activities We are asking you to consider sponsoring a square of AstroTurf at a cost of €250. This square of AstroTurf can be sponsored by an individual or a family. We also ask that if you do wish to support our campaign that you do so through the Tax Relief Scheme. All what this will imply for you is the filling out of a form but the financial gains for our development project will be huge. Should you require any further information or have any questions and/or queries do not hesitate to contact a member of our Fundraising Committee (contact details attached). Forms for Tax Relief Scheme available from the club or any member of the fundraising committee. These forms were also distributed at our Launch Night in the Firgrove on Saturday last April 30th. You can also donate online through Swoofee on the Glenroe Social Media Pages.
Glenroe are beaten for the first time in Kilfinane
Glenroes unbeaten start to the season has came to end this Sunday in Kilfinane against Effin. The game started at frantic pace with Effin starting fast only to be pegged back by a Patrick McSweeney goal. Glenroe were ahead halfway through the halfway point of the second half due to some accurate free taking from Mark O’Connell, Eoin Walsh and David McCarthy. Glenroe kept the pressure on and got a second goal through Eoin Walsh to put them five points up but Effin stuck back again and cut the deficit down to 1 point at the break. Half time score Glenroe 2-09 Effin 0-14. Glenroe started the second half well with two quick points from Ciaran Kelly and Mark O’Connell free. One of the games pivotal moments came when Effin’s corner back received a red card. This opened up an opportunity for Glenroe to push on but Effin remained resilient and actually gained momentum after the red card. Glenroe were struggling and Effin kept on pushing on and took the lead. Glenroe struggled to get clean possession of the ball towards the end of the game and Effin pushed on to finish out the game with a goal in the last minute to seal the win.
