County Premier Junior Football Champions
It has been a long wait in the Parish of Feohanagh/Castlemahon to bring home another County title but on Sunday morning the Feohanagh/Castlemahon Premier Junior Football team turned on the style in Tournafulla against our neighbours Feenagh/Kilmeedy and brought home the cup that they totally deserved. From start to finish they totally dominated the game but it took about 10 minutes for Castlemahon to register their first score but from that moment on they were brilliant. The backs kept the Feenagh/Kilmeedy forwards out of the danger zone for much of the match and kept them to a scoreline of 7 points for the match. The Feohanagh/Castlemahon forwards were on fire with Sean Downey picking off 2-2 from his first appearance in the full forward position. The mid field duo performed a masterclass which created perfect balls for the busy forward line to tack on the scores. The Feohanagh/Castlemahon team are very diverse in ages with the mature players controlling the game and the younger players really coming into the game with a brilliant performance from Ciaran O’Sullivan who picked a wonderful ball into his hand without breaking his stride and passing the ball into Sean Downey to put it into the back of the net and in the backs Cathal Lynch clearing a certain goal of the goal line. A majestic performance from man of the match Alan Roche who was consistent throughout the championship picked off some fabulous scores to have the supporters in awe. It was a difficult game to pick a man of the match because all the team put in a huge performance but the official man of the match was Alan Roche. After the final whistle Captains James Guina and Niall Kennedy received the cup in front of a huge crowd in Tournafulla. Congratulations to the team and Management on a wonderful achievement and bringing another County title back to the parish. They will now contest the Intermediate Football Championship in 2023. There were great celebrations within the parish on Sunday but the team must now regroup as they are playing Waterford Shamrocks in the Munster club championship next Saturday @ 1.15pm. Venue to be decided. Feohanagh/Castlemahon Abu.
