EAST GAA.
East Board AGM took place Tuesday 22nd November in the Millennium centre Caherconlish.
Large attendance on the evening from all the clubs in East and County board officers.
The AGM started with a detailed report from Secretary Maria Owens on the Divisional finals , Junior B hurling & Football Championships and Brian Butler cup, Maria congratulated all the winners and thanked all the clubs for the participation in the championships and their support during the year.
Maria thanked the Referees who without them no games would go ahead and also the Divisional referees who were in charge for County finals this year in both Hurling and Football.
Treasurer report was done by Paddy O’Sullivan who gave a comprehensive and detailed review of the year and accounts for 2022.
Chairperson Ger Lonergan speech thanked all the clubs in the East for their support during the year attending meetings to fulfilling fixtures and also thanked our Referees and support from the county board.
Ger took time during his speech to remember all those who sadly passed away in 2022 and in special remembrance of Denis Holmes East Board Vice President and his service to Limerick GAA over the years.
The Election of officers took place all officers were retuned for 2023.
On the evening Ballybricken-Bohermore nominated Peter O’ Neill for Vice-President and this was proposed and seconded on the evening Congratulations to Peter.
On the evening there was a number of Montion’s and recommendations these were all spoken by the clubs on the evening.
To foster continued player participation in our games – Consider reverting U21 & U19 to divisional format – Ballybricken Bohermore GAA / Cappamore GAA.
Divisional Competition proposal – Cappamore GAA
Play East Football final and not double up as league game – Oola GAA
Recommendations
That the Junior B football championship would be slightly revised to Broaden the time line between qualifying rounds and the final would be played no earlier than September which would allow our divisional finalists more competitive fare close to the county stages – Knockane GAA
Recommend that the major grounds in the East Division be made more wheel chair accessible – Oola GAA
This year at County Board there is a number officer roles to be filled due to the 5-year rule.
On the evening all officers who are going for a position were afforded the opportunity to speak.
The officers who spoke were the following Mary Hassett , Seamus McNamara , Seamus Twomey , Frank Reidy , Emmet O’ Brien , Pat Davoren , Sean Bourke , Jim Enright , Gerry Philips , Eammon Phelan and Aidan Ryan.
