U15 Feile Iomaint B
On Last Friday Week last our U15 Hurlers took part in the Mr Binman Feile which was held in Croagh.
Our first match was against Killeedy/ Tournafulla in which a slow start left too much of a mountain to climb with the half time score 2-10 to no score. However, showing great heart and determination the Dromcollogher/ Broadford players came out in the 2nd half and showed what they are capable of. But there was just much of a gap to bridge, and the final score was 2-11 to 1-2.
The second game had the lads pitted against a strong Croagh/ Kilfinny/ Rathkeale side but having learned the lesson from the first game the Dromcollogher/Broadford players, from the throw in, showed more grit and willingness to do the hard work needed. With a half time score of 1-2 to 0-2 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford it was all to play for in the final 15 minutes. With the rain now starting to come down heavy, conditions were hard for flowing hurling with the match ending a draw with 1-3 apiece with few chances for either side.
With a draw now under their belt heading into the final match against Templeglantine, the players wanted to finish the day on a high note and from the off were the much sharper team. At half time with a lead of 05 to 01 it was looking good. The weather had the final say and the rain came back with a vengeance to make conditions underfoot slick and the ball hard to handle. Putting all thoughts of giving up aside Dromcollogher/Broadford ran out winners by a point with a final score of 07 to 1-3.
While a disappointing result to the days games the players showed what they can do when they applied themselves. The slow start to the first half in the first game unfortunately meant the players were trying to play catch-up the rest of the day. A big thanks to the management team for all their work during the year and especially for motivating the team to pick themselves up when things were not going their way.
