A strong second half performance lead Dromcollogher/ Broadford to a win over Galtee Gaels in their opening game in County Minor A Football Championship.
Brian Ahern scored the first pointed free for Dromcollogher/ Broadford and then Galtee Gaels scored their first goal of the game with 5 minutes gone in the game to lead by two points. Brian Ahern scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford coming from a 45’to leave a point between the sides and then Galtee Gaels scored the coming from a 45’ to leave two points between the sides once again. Brian Ahern scored the next point from Dromcollogher/ Broadford coming from play to leave a point between the sides once again and then Galtee Gaels scored the next goal of the game with 12 minutes gone in the game to lead by four points. This was a very tight game played in Ballingarry on last Sunday evening in very fine conditions with Junior Football getting their first win of the year. The decisive goal coming from Colm Meaney early in the first half. After two rounds the table reads as follows Kilteely/ Dromkeen 4 points, Crecora/ Mainster and Dromcollogher/ Broadford both on two points each and Ahane no points.
Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first 1-2 of the game with the goal coming from Colm Meaney with 6 minute in the game and the points came from Micheál Reidy and Liam McGraynor to lead by five points and then Ahane scored their first of the game to leave a goal between the sides. Micheál Reidy scored the next two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave five points between the sides and then Ahane scored the last two points of the half to leave a goal between the sides at end of the half. To leave at score at half-time Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-4 to Ahane 0-4.
Ahane scored the first point of the second half of the game to leave two points between the sides and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points of the game to lead by five points and these points came from John O’Kelly, Séan Madden, Liam McGraynor and Kevin McGill.
