DROMCOLLOGHER/BROADFORD GAA CLUB NOTES
On a cold Sunday afternoon in Maguire pitches UL our 21s qualified after a tough sporting game with Crecora/Manister!!!
Result:
U21 County B Football Championship Semi-Final
Dathi Brudairs 3-09
Crecora/ Mainster 1-11
Crecora/Manister started very well and within a minute they had broken through our defence and were denied a goal by Timmy Brosnan who tipped the ball over the bar for a point. We took control for the next 10 minutes and scored 1-4 without reply with Colm Ryan and Jack Pierce scoring 0-2 each. Luke Ryan got a goal thanks to a great kick out won by Colm Ryan. Crecora/Manister got the next point from play after turning over one of our attacks and breaking to score a point. For our next goal our forwards turned over the opposition defence and Jack Pierce emerged with the ball and passed it to Colm Ryan who placed it in the bottom corner to put us 2-4 to 0-2 up. On the 19th minute Jack Mullane won the opposition kick out and played James Molyneux through and he was fouled in the square and a penalty was given, Colm Ryan placed it in the corner past the Crecora/Manister goalkeeper. The opposition finished the half with two points to leave the score at half-time 3-4 to 0-4.
We started very slowly in the second half and were under a lot pressure defensively and Crecora/Manister scored 1-4 without reply. On the 44th minute Damien Burke stepped up for us and tipped over a great point that was badly needed. The opposition responded with a point to leave the score at 3-5 to 1-9 with 10 minutes remaining. On the 54th minute Damien stepped up again and squeezed over a point from a very tight angle. Both teams exchanged points in the next 3 minutes with our point coming from Luke Ryan after a great turn over from Séan Madden who had just entered the game replacing Donal Molyneux. Crecora/Manister’s final score came from a free from 25 metres. We finished off with two scores from Damien Burke and Jack O`Sullivan and held on for a four-point win.
