This was a very tight game played between two very evenly matched teams, with Dromcollogher/ Broadford only getting three wides in the whole game. The table reads after one round as follows: Mungret/ St. Paul’s 2 points +3, Dromcollogher/ Broadford 2 points + 1, Blackrock 1 point 0, Bruff 1 point 0, Doon 0 points -1, Rathkeale 0 points -3.

Paul Madigan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Shane O’Connell of Doon exchanged points and then Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next four points to take by four points with three of these points coming from Keith Lacey and the other point coming from Damien Burke. Michael Barry of Doon and Tommy Ryan of Dromcollogher/ Broadford then exchanged points, to leave four points between the sides once again and then Doon scored the next five points to take the lead for the first time and with two of these coming from Michael Barry and the other point coming from Bob Purcell. Keith Lacey scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to bring sides back on level terms for the second time during the game and then Bob Purcell scored the next point for Doon to give back then the lead by a point. Declan Stack of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the first goal of the game with 18 minutes gone in the game to give us lead of two points and then Keith Lacey of Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next point to give us a lead of three points. Doon scored the next goal from play with 21 minutes to bring sides back on level terms for the third time during the game and then Doon scored the next three points with one coming from Bob Purcell from a 65m and the other from Michael Barry to give them a lead of four points. Keith Lacey scored the next two points for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave a point just before the break two points between the sides at end of the first of the game. To leave the score at half-time Doon 1-11 to Dromcollogher/ Broadford 1-09.
Brian Stack of Dromcollogher/ Broadford and Bob Purcell of Doon exchanged points to leave two points between sides early in the second half of the game and then Doon scored the point of the game to leave three points between the sides. Dromcollogher/ Broadford scored the next six points to take the lead by three points with three points each coming from Damien Burke and Keith Lacey. Doon scored the next point to leave two points between the sides and then Keith Lacey of Dromcollogher/ Broadford replied with next point to leave three points between the sides once again. Doon scored the next points with coming from Michael Barry scoring the one point to put one point between the sides and then Shane Murphy scored the next point for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to leave two points between the sides. Michael Barry scored the two points for Doon to bring sides back on level terms for the fifth time during the game and then Damien Burke scored the point of the game for Dromcollogher/ Broadford to give us back the lead with 61 minutes gone in the game and then the referee Kieran Flaherty played 9 more minutes of injury time with Dromcollogher/ Broadford holding out for one point win and we got our first two points on the board and our next game is against Rathkeale, on this coming Saturday August 12th, in Quaid Park, Colyroe, at 7pm, Referee: John Paul Kiely (Croom).
