CRECORA MANISTER GAA CLUB NOTES
CONDOLENCES:
This week the club would like to express its condolences to the Fitzgerald family on the passing of John Fitzgerald, late of Lantern Hill, Skehanagh, Crecora and formerly of Caher Road, Mungret. John was heavily involved in Crecora-Manister GAA Club for over four decades, from captaining our hurling team in the eighties to presiding as club secretary in the nineties, John also stayed involved with coaching and the committee subsequently. John’s sons Mark & Simon both played with the club and his daughter Kelly lined out with Crecora camogie club. Our deepest sympathies to his wife Eileen, his children Mark, Simon and Kelly, and his extended family and friends.
CLUB LIMERICK DRAW WINNER:
Congratulations to Pádraig O’Connor, winner of €250 in the January edition of the Club Limerick Draw. It is great to finish the last draw of the season with a winner from the club. Thanks to everyone who supported throughout the year. With 50% of the entrant fee going back to our club, this is a vital fundraiser for the running of the club. The draw recommences on 27th March.
CLUB FACILITY DEVELOPMENT PLAN:
Following the welcome announcement of Leader grant funding from West Limerick Resources, totalling €36,295.59 towards the Community Walking Track, the focus now turns towards the preparation of a grant application under the Sports Capital Programme.
The Sports Capital Grant scheme was announced by the Government before Christmas, and the deadline for applications is the 1st of March next. The club’s intention is to apply for grant aid towards a significant project at Crecora Manister GAA pitch, which will benefit all our GAA and Camogie players and families.
Such a project will require us to demonstrate, as part of the grant application process, the level of “own funding” that can be put towards the project to ensure its delivery, so the importance of the Club generating funding for the project is therefore crucial to the application process.
Please support our fundraising efforts either by sending a cheque, payable to Crecora Manister Development Fund, to Pat Byrnes or Mark Leahy, or by lodging directly to our Development Fund Account with Bank of Ireland:
