CLAUGHAUN GAA CLUB NOTES
Junior Hurling Championship
Claughaun 2.17 Ballybrown 1.05
Our hurlers turned in a magnificent display on Saturday evening last, in Mungret, to defeat Ballybrown in a must win game for us. From the outset it was clear that the team was focused on the task at hand and quickly settled into the game. We led at half time by eight points and completely dominated the second half to run out resounding winners. This was a very satisfying display from the team and hopefully we can build on this performance. Our next game is this Saturday against Mungret St Pauls in Rhebogue at 7.00pm.
Junior B Football Championship
Claughaun 1.15 Balinacurra Gaels 6.04
Goals win matches and this was certainly the case on Thursday evening when our junior footballers travelled to play Ballinacurra Gaels. Well done to the lads and hopefully we can regroup for our next game which is against Mungret St Pauls this Thursday at 7pm in Claughaun.
City/East Minor Hurling Championship
Southside Gaels 1.09 Murroe/Boher 0.10
An excellent win for our minor hurlers on Tuesday last when they travelled to Murroe for this important game. This team is going well now and will play Pallasgreen this Friday in Claughaun at 7.00pm.
Please try and get to support all our teams in their upcoming fixtures.
A special word of congratulations to Ross Mc Nally, Robert Galligan, Kian O’Brien and Aaron Considine who played for Limerick over the weekend at various underage football tournaments. It is great to see Claughaun players donning the Limerick jersey and long may it continue. Well done also to our coaches who got these lads to the required standard. Hopefully we will see more of our young players getting to represent Limerick in the years ahead.
Cul Camp
Cul Camp 2019 started on Monday 8th July and despite the overcast weather upwards of 100 children attended our first day. Well done to Catriona and all the people who are helping her with this great event.
Our Under12/13 hurlers will take part in a Munster hurling blitz on Saturday 20th July in LIT Gaelic Grounds. This group is improving as the year goes on under the guidance of Mike Marnell and Morgan O’Sullivan. Parents are encouraged to get the lads to training over the next few weeks and to keep an eye of the WhatsApp group for all the relevant details. Well done to the lads and we look forward to watching this group progress in the coming years.
