CAHERLINE GAA CLUB NOTES

GAA LOTTO: No jackpot winner last week – lucky dip winners were Ted, Ger Coffey, Ger O’Connell, Mary McNamara and Tom O’Donnell. Next weeks jackpot will be €1,800 and the draw will be held on Friday night in Uncle Tom’s Bar.

HURLING WALL: There was some great mural work carried out in the hurling wall last week, something that will enhance training for all age groups. Many thanks to Brian O’Sullivan in Centra for sponsoring this work, Neil O’Dwyer from Murals.ie for doing the work and to A1 Access for the aerial platform.

MINOR HURLING: Great win for the lads last week against Kildimo-Pallaskenry, a game that both teams needed to win to secure a place in the top 4. The first half was even enough, but Kildimo closed out the half that bit stronger, taking a half time lead of 0-08 to 0-05. Caherline had a 5 point lead 20 minutes into the second half, but some soft frees allowed Kildimo back into the game, one of those frees leading to the only goal of the game with 2 minutes left, the game now a draw. But to be fair to our lads, they weren’t leaving without the win and with two late points, we took the win, 0-18 to 1-13. TEAM: J Franklin (0-04(3*f, 1*65)), J Sheehan, L Shanahan, R Walsh, J Carroll, D McNamara, D Murnane, D O’Connell, S Erasmus, J Moloney, C Enright, J Halvey (0-07(2*f)), M Hogan, J McElligott (0-01), N O’Connor (0-01). SUBS: J Kennedy (0-05(4*f)), M O’Connor, D Curtin, P Ryan.
