JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP: Brilliant game of hurling in Claughaun on Sunday, our Junior A’s taking a super win, 2-19 to 2-14. Caherline had the better start to the game and were 1-04 to 0-03 up at the first water break, our goal coming from Paraic Wixted in the 13th min after some great movement of the ball around the forwards. Ballybrown scored their first goal in the 20th min but Andrew Brennan responded from the penalty spot in the 29th min after Andrew was brought down. At half time, we had a 6-point lead, 2-08 to 1-05. The second half was even more physical than the first and our lads put their bodies on the line to win the dirty ball. But as you’d expect with Ballybrown, they weren’t going to just roll over for us either and they had it back to 4 points at the second water break. They scored their second goal in the 27th min from a free close in, but we had notched on 3 points before that and with a point each in the closing stages, we took a much-deserved win 2-19 to 2-14. Brilliant desire within the panel and it was evident from everyone on the field. Very well-done lads, we’ve a semi-final to look forward to against St Patricks on October 29th in Kilbreedy at 7:30pm. On Monday October 25th, our U-19 B Hurling Championship semi-final will take place against St Kierans in Kilbreedy at 2pm. Not ideal having pretty much the same panel out two days in a row, but those are the fixtures as we have them right now – if there are any changes, we’ll let you know.
