BALLYSTEEN GAA CLUB NOTES
Limerick Senior Football Championship
The draw for the revamped Limerick Senior Football Championship took place recently and we were drawn in a group with Newcastle West & Drom/Broadford. Following Newcastle West’s opening round victory, our fixtures are now finalised. We will play Drom/Broadford in Round 2 and Newcastle West in Round 3.
Round 2: Ballysteen vs Drom/Broadford, Sunday August 23rd, Newcastle West 2pm
Round 3: Ballysteen vs Newcastle West, Saturday August 29th, The Bog Garden 6pm
These games are classed as outdoor events and as per Government Guidelines there can only be 200 people in attendance. Therefore, these games will have a limited number of tickets for spectators. If you are interested in going to the game, please forward an expression of interest to Alan Kehoe (0871237562) or John Neville (0876505469). We will do our best to get everyone a ticket but in the event that demand is greater than supply, we will be forced to have a draw.
Best wishes to our team captained by Cillian Ferris and managed by Seamus O’Donnell for the upcoming Championship campaign. A lot of hard work has gone in pre and post lockdown and hopefully this will bear fruit in the coming weeks. Thanks as well to Cagney’s Bar who sponsor our new jerseys which will see competitive Championship action for the first time.
Covid Match Day Guidelines
As Limerick GAA returns to competitive action this weekend and in the coming weeks, our teams will also return to Championship action.
Government guidelines for Phase 3 in regards outdoor gatherings are applied to GAA fixtures. This means that no more than 200 people can be in attendance at a Championship fixture. Therefore, admission to upcoming Championship fixtures will be ticketed. This guideline is in place until August 10th.
We are hopeful that this guideline may be eased from August 10th so that as many of our members and supporters will be able to go to our Championship fixtures. However, if demand for tickets exceeds supply of allocation the Club receives for matches, a draw will be necessary to distribute tickets.
We know that this may come as a disappointment to some supporters, however, we are in the fortunate position that our opening Championship match will take place after August 10th.
We will monitor and update on the situation in the coming weeks here on facebook, twitter and weekly club notes when that information becomes available.
