BALLYSTEEN GAA CLUB NOTES

Senior Football
We resumed our Senior Championship campaign last Friday night when we took on Adare in the Bog Garden. Despite a poor start which saw us down 8 points to 3 at half time, we battled through out the 60 minutes. Unfortunately, we couldn’t make inroads into the defecit even after Danny Neville’s predatorly finished goal. The full time score was 1-14 to 1-9.
Team: Kevin Walsh; Jason Daly, Patrick Ranahan, Kevin McMahon; Bill Casey, Matthew O’Meara, John O’Shaughnessy; Jamie O’Sullivan, James O’Meara; Sean Whelan, Shane Hallinan, Patrick Moran; Mark Ranahan, Shane Gallagher, Danny Neville.

Next up is Fr. Casey’s this Sunday evening in Newcastle West. Throw in is at 7pm. Last year we came out on top following an exciting game of football. All support is welcome.

Golf Classic
Ballysteen GAA are hosting our Annual Golf Classic on Friday 16th and Saturday 17th of August at Newcastle West Golf Club. The event has been a massive success over the past number of years and hopefully we can build upon that this year. Teams of three costs €100. Businesses wishing to sponsor the event can do so for €50. Contact John Neville (0876505469), Alan Kehoe (0871237562) or any club member to register your interest.

All Ireland Semi Final
Disappointment for the Limerick Senior Hurlers last Saturday evening when Kilkenny defeated them by one point. The loss means Limerick’s reign as All Ireland Champions comes to an end. However, there have been many special moments throughout the last 12 months, none moreso than when the Liam McCarthy Cup was brought to the clubhouse soon after the victory over Galway. 2019 was not without success, however, with William O’Meara making his competitive debut in the National Hurling League and with the team annexing League and Munster titles. Well done to all involved and we look forward to what the 2020 campaign will bring.

Club Limerick Draw
Well done to Jamie O’Sullivan and Kevin Holland who both won €100 in the Club Limerick Draw last week.
