AHANE GAA CLUB NOTES

Limerick Minor and Senior Hurlers bow out for 2019

Hard luck to both the Limerick Minor and Senior hurling teams in their semi-finals last Saturday in Croke Park against Kilkenny.

First up were the previously unbeaten minors who lost out to a strong Kilkenny side who were deserving winners on the day. Well done and hard luck to Adam Murrihy who started at midfield and to Cian Casey who came on early in the second half at half forward – both certainly looked at home on the big stage and did themselves proud. They can take small consolation in that they end the intercounty year with a Munster championship winners medal to their names. We look forward to seeing the two lads back in action in the green and gold with the Ahane minors shortly.

The Seniors, with Tom and Dan Morrissey both playing, also fell just short against a buoyant Kilkenny side who don’t appear to be going anywhere anytime soon! A gloriously successful 12 months came to an abrupt end for the lads who literally won it all this last year. No doubt they will be back stronger and as competitive as ever in 2020. The joy this Limerick side has bestowed upon all their supporters over the past year is really incalculable. As a club, we had great pride in having two of our own lads playing pivotal roles in such a strong side and they have certainly proved admirable role-models to all the aspiring youngsters in the club.

Senior Hurling Club Championship resumption

The club will ask its members to revert their support to the club side over the coming weeks as the club championship restarts following the inter-county break.

The lads face Garryspillane in their next group game within the next two weeks. Please keep an eye on our fixtures on the website or ClubZap for updates as confirmation becomes available.
