BALLYBRICKEN BOHERMORE GAA CLUB NOTES

Junior A: Our adult hurlers played Cappamore in the east league recording our third win by 2-14 to 1-10. In a tight first half we went into the break level at 0-7 points a piece after conceding a number of frees in the first period and hitting a few wides we had plenty to improve on. The second period went better and two quick fire Daniel Owens goals proved the difference as we played with increased aggression and better judgement we now have two remaining league games against Doon and Caherconlish. Team from Shane O Neill, Mark O Dea, Enda O Callaghan, Hugh Leonard, Jack Owens, Aidan Power, Patrick Byrnes, David Ryan, Michael Martin, Colm Teefy, John Casey, Daniel Maguire, Conor McCarthy, Joseph Teefy, Daniel Owens and Cathal O Neill.

Junior B: The second round of the junior B hurling league took place in Caherelly last Tuesday night with Bally narrowly losing out by 2-5 to South Liberties 0-14. Playing into the breeze the game was a tight contest throughout an excellent team move and finish to the net from Dylan Conway left us trailing by three going into the break 1-2 to 0-8. With the elements at our backs we started the second half perfectly with a John Casey goal leaving the sides level however we failed to kick on from this and could not match our opponents scoring losing by 3 points in the end. Team from John Hanly, Hugh Leonard, Joseph Teefy, Enda O Callaghan, David Ryan, Eoin Lyons, Cathal O Neill, Jack Owens, Eoin O Neill, Cillian O Brian, Enda Frawley, Danny Garry, John Casey, Dylan Conway, Jamie O Donoghue, Dennis Stack, Barry Laffan, Adrian Lennon and Kevin McCarthy.

Junior A football: Our junior footballers began their season with a defeat to Oola in a low scoring affair it was very obvious it was both sides first outing in this code for some time we trailed by four at half time after leaving a number of scores behind us. This trend continued in the second half with Oola eventually running out winners 1-6 to Ballys 0-5 the match highlight being a point from the ageless John Hanly. Team from John Casey, Mark o Dea, Paul Martin, Conor McCarthy, Daniel McGuire, Shane O Neill, Tommy Carroll, Jack Owens, Hugh Leonard, Eoghan O Neill, Cian Donnelly, Dylan Conway, John Hanly, Patrick Byrne, Jamie Donoghue.

Minor Hurling: Our minor hurlers played Mungret in the premier competition and were beat 2-17 to 1-14. Played in Mungret in blustery conditions we always trailed and writing was on the wall as early as half time as we trailed by 7 points after conceding two quick goals in quick succession. We battled hard in the second period but Mungret extended their lead and a late Cathal O Neill goal left us losing by 6 at the full time whistle the minors last fixture before the exams is this Friday against Ahane .Team from Jamie Slater, Colm O Riordan (BB), Jack Dalton, Padraig Byrnes, Cian Enright, Patrick Byrnes (BB), Colin Haigney, James Conheady, Richard Murphy, Chris Shanahan, Michael Martin (BB), Cathal O Neill, Brendan Power, Rory Hannon, Darragh Hogan (BB), Fergal Egan, Darragh O Keefe, John Bourke, Robbie Slater, Aidan Walker (BB), Eoghan O Connor, Ciaran Kennedy.

Club Notices: Well done to Ballybricken/Bohermores Callum Hedderman who represented limerick minor footballers last week playing half forward in a draw against Tipperary which unfortunately was not enough to qualify for the next round. With a number of injuries and college exams taking place our panels are tight for numbers in the next few outings so all available players are required to take the field. Both our junior hurlers and minors are out over the bank holiday weekend please see club text and club social media for exact fixtures.
