Junior A Hurling: Our Junior A Hurling played their final round championship game on Sunday last in hospital with Blackrock providing the opposition. Ballybricken set out their stall early in the game with 2 Dan Owens goals in as many minutes in the first half, following this michael Clifford and James hickey contributed with points of their own before Dan Owens hit the net for a third time to complete his hat-trick as we went in at the break 3:10-0:05.
As the second half commenced , the game was as good as over as a contest and Bally introduced a number of subs to freshen things up. Bally picked up where they left off in the first half with points from Dan McGuire and Dan Owens before Eoghan O’Neill added another goal. The score of the game came from John Casey who clawed the ball from the clouds and shrugged of the challenge of 4 defenders to finish to the back of the net. Bally ran out comprehensive winners 6:19-0:09
We would like to wish Dan McGuire a speedy recovery following an injury sustained in the match.
Brian Butler Hurling: Our Junior Hurlers were in action on Wednesday night last in the Brian Butler Cup final against Ahane in Fedamore, In what was a very competitive and entertaining game of hurling from both sides in which saw Bally leading by 1pt at the break, As the second half got underway , Ahane were quickest out of the blocks and set the pace of the game and picking off their scores much easier than Ballybricken. After Ahanes blistering second half bally hit back with a goal and a couple of points of their own but unfortunately it was too little too late with Ahane running out winners 1:20-2:11
