BALLINACURRA GAA CLUB NOTES

Player Recruitment Night
We recently hosted a hugely successful recruitment open night for players. There were over 70 children aged between 5 and 11 in attendance learning Hurling and Gaelic Football skills. On what was a beautiful evening, the children finished off the training session with some well deserved treats including ice creams. Thanks to Peter Nash from Limerick GAA and to all who made the evening such a major success.

Junior B Football

Anybody interested in playing Junior B football with Ballinacurra Gaels this year should contact Mike Monahan or any of the Committee. There are only a few games but you have to be registered to play.

U8 Hurling Blitz

Well done to our U8s who played very well in the hurling blitz last Friday evening at LIT against Kildimo/Palkaskenry, Mungret and Adare.

U14 Football
Our U14 footballers took a break from Championship to take on St Patricks GAA in a challenge on a beautiful May evening in Ballinacurra. Both sides played out a superb game with the mix of skill, physicality and determination enjoyed by all the many supporters present.

Highlights from a coaching perspective were the presence of eight different names on the scoresheet and the fact that all scores came from play. Defensively we have a lot more to work on with St Patricks movement off the ball and quick frees troubling us throughout.

Manager Eoin Buckley commented that he was particularly impressed with the performance of some of the younger players introduced and that certain established names would need to up their efforts as a result or risk losing their places!

The boys are clearly enjoying their football & it is a credit to the players, parents & coaches involved that we have come from a standing start to an active panel of twenty two so quickly.

Ballinacurra Gaels thank Mark & all at St Patricks for the game and we look forward to a rematch before the end of the summer.
