U16 Boys
Athea 2-7 Granagh/Ballingarry 4-12
Granagh/Ballingarry justified their favourites tag with this win on Saturday last in the wide expanses of Mick Neville Park. They were made fight all the way by a determined and skillful Athea team, who just lacked a bit of pace and size to keep their challenge up all the way to the end. At the end of the first 1/4 we trailed 0-3 to 0-1, we put in a huge effort in the second 1/4 but still trailed at half time by 2 pts, 1-6 to 1-4. We again took the game to our speedier opponents, but the size of the pitch was beginning to take its toll. At the end of the 3rd 1/4 we were down by 4pts, 2-10 to 2-6. The team gave it everything in the last quarter, but could find no way through for scores, and as the space opened up G/B got in for two more goals to seal a deserved win. Our boys put in as brave a performance as you could wish to see, and their parents, the club and the parish should be very proud of the whole panel. Manager Jason Dalton(who was very disappointed he couldn’t attend the match due to work commitments) and selector James O Connor put in a great effort with the team this year, and had the team playing some fantastic football, must get the highest of praise for their commitment.
Team, Tomás Ahern, Conor Mullane, Maurice Fitzgerald, James Lee, Calum Buckley, James Hunt, Darragh Reidy(capt), Gearoid O Sullivan, James Broderick, Daire O Shea, Evan Curry, Cillian O Connor, Michael Walsh, subs, Rory O Mahony, Fergal Pierse, Donnacha Barrett and Tadhg Ahern.

Sympathy
Our club would like to offer our sympathies to the Moran & Hunt families who are well associated with our club on the sad passing of Mairéad Lehane in Cappagh. May the light of heaven be hers.
